‘A’OHE PU’U KI’EKI’E KE HO’A’O ‘IA E PI’I

"I may have more on these later," I wrote on Tuesday, linking to a Reason article notifying its readers about two wins in Hawaii. Attorney Alan Beck had sent me pdf's about the cases but I was up to my neck in preexisting online and meatspace priorities.

Fortunately, John Petrolino was able to field these for all of us and give us detailed, timely, and comprehensive reports:

Life in the Igeocracy is one of the most oppressive for gun owners, and no one has fought harder to roll back infringements in that hostile environment than Beck and Stephen Stamboulieh.

Data Dump

This is the administrative record for our bump stock case it is over 5 thousand pages. It has everything you could possibly need to know about them. Please take a look. [More]
That Facebook post links to a big-@$$ zip file that'll take a while to download.

Per attorney Alan Beck, via email:
Today one our lawsuits challenging the bump stock ban had its administrative record filed. That is all the stuff that the Feds used to justify its decision. It has a lot of technical stuff and other records ... So here it is please note this is 5000 pages and you need to download the files before you can view it.
'We want as many people as possible to see it," he tells me. "The ATF's years of inconsistent determinations should be put in the public light."

No Remedy at Law

Despite clear evidence of system failures in the federal background check system, it is manifest that under the well-established standards of the FTCA and the specific immunity provisions contained in Brady Act provide the victims of this tragedy no remedy at law. [More]
Wasn't that the Protection of Lackadaisical Conduct in Administration Act?

So those "universal background checks" we're told will be the cure-all for gunviolenceTM are only as good as those administering them, which is not very good at all...?

But take heart, no one will be held accountable, meaning just like with no duty to protect, no one has any liability here, either.

What did "staunch defender of the Second Amendment" Sen. Cornyn say?
"Just one record that’s not properly reported can lead to tragedy..."
Hey, is it 5:00 yet?

There's No Justification for This

The State of New Jersey argued that I did not meet “justifiable need” for a carry license because I had "other options" I could pursue. I could:
1: Shut down my business; or
2: Conduct my private business in a different manner; or
3: Hire a private armed security guard. [More]
Funding is being solicited for a challenge.

Stephen Stamboulieh and Alan Beck will be filing the case.

An appeal was filed Wednesday in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit contesting the dismissal by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania of a case challenging the ban on civilian ownership of machineguns manufactured after 1986. Attorneys Alan Beck and Stephen Stamboulieh are representing claimant Ryan S. Watson in his complaint against the U.S. Attorney General and the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. [More]

Heller Foundation raising funds for machine gun lawsuit

“The Heller Foundation is pleased to announce that it has teamed with Jay Hollis and attorneys Stephen Stamboulieh and Alan Beck to fight the federal restrictions on machine gun ownership.” [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes this should take away any remaining doubts that this is a lawsuit worth supporting. Will you? Think of the potential ramifications and the significance of this particular ally jumping into the fray, and then please spread the news far and wide to help them do battle properly equipped.

John Lott discusses the Crime Prevention Research Center and the celebrity fundraiser at the annual NRA meetings, Rob Pincus kicks off the PDN training tour, legendary senate staffer Mike Hammond from inside the beltway, Neil McCabe, David Codrea and George Hill provide analysis. [More]
Grover was on in Hour Two. I came on in Hour Three. Supposedly, he's coming back after the NRA election is finalized. Let's see if he'll even acknowledge my specific challenges, let alone address them in any meaningful way.
