‘Hobbit ring’ school suspension merits closer look
What’s unknown is how much of the story as reported comports with the totality of events and what was actually said and done. If all is as related in the OA Online report, it recalls other hysterical overreactions on the part of teachers and school administrators, such as the account of a child suspended for biting a strawberry tart into something supposed adults said looked like a gun, or the teen confronted by officials and police for fantasizing about shooting a neighbor’s pet dinosaur, or my personal favorite, a county-wide school lockdown and detention of a student after a worker misinterpreted the lyrics to “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that accompanied a voicemail. George III issues Cornwall’s Proclamation of Cessation of Hostilities (which would later culminate, in September, with the Paris Peace Treaty), ending the American Revolution. Or I may just hang up this feature altogether, or figure out some other way to present a daily account of what it took to shake off a crown.
Those of you who have been following this feature have no doubt noticed that in addition to the "big" stuff, I've tried to present everyday stuff to give a feel for the sacrifices "ordinary" people went through, and factors that need to be considered to obtain a more whole picture, stuff like supplies, logistics, tactics, personalities, regional matters, schisms, etc. Those are things that would have relevance should all avenues of peaceable redress be blocked and should some decide an "obey or be destroyed" alternative is not acceptable.

For Better or for Worse
Like it or not, it's gonna happen. [More]
Like it or not, Mike's going.
That means all the pro and con advice is now a moot point.
This is the new paradigm all of us, but especially the "gun groups," need to get used to, because it effectively nullifies any "compromises" some may be inclined to agree to. Ultimately, people are going to choose to obey or disobey. Ultimately, people are going to choose if they wish to confront. Once the decision is made, our approval and agreement don't matter. Nothing we say or do is going to stop it.
Once the decision is made, we can condemn them as extremists who make us all look bad, or we can remind any so inclined that the real extremists are those who would deny rights and force their will on others.
I suppose we'll see how many urging "go" will go themselves, and how many who won't will help with the legal costs. But for now, let's think positive, and hope that this turns out to be the genius move some believe it to be.
I don't recall ever praying to be proven absolutely wrong before. That is now my prayer.

School FOIA response points to law violation by anti-gun filmmaker
With events and actions established, the Oakland Police Department probably won’t do anything unless public pressure makes ignoring things problematic. They have evidence that a gun, real or imitation, was brought into a school within their jurisdiction. They have the ability to determine if exemptions were in force if the firearm was real. They have a statement from the school director that if the gun was a replica, it was not authorized. They have cause to investigate to determine if any violations occurred, and no excuse not to aside from they don’t want to. On the flip side, it’s tough to believe they would not throw the book at gun rights supporters for bringing a nonexempt real gun or unauthorized replica gun into a school in order to make a pro-gun advocacy point. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes it looks like real law was broken by those demanding more laws, and wonders if the David Gregory Effect will once again come into play.
Exclusive: “Green Decoys” Lure Sportsmen Into Deceptive Trap
Employing a “divide and conquer” strategy against gun owners, often pitting sport shooters against those who own firearms for the primary purposes of protection and freedom, is hardly new. It’s been tried before with other well-funded shill groups established by those who can’t push citizen disarmament edicts through if they’re up front about their intentions, so they instead package them in a way to induce well-meaning but poorly informed gun owners to take the bait. Perpetual Hickenlooper Blues
From CYDL:
Hick was on a local show over the weekend where the public was encouraged to send him questions. Apparently more than a few folks asked about the repeal of our Bloomberg laws. Here’s what he said:
@9NEWSpolitics@hickforco what do you think about the overwhelming push to recall your draconian #2A bills that you didn't even read??
— Dr Conner (@askdrconner)
"Well, I haven't seen the overwhelming desire," Hickenlooper said. "That's a legislative issue." The governor says he hears plenty of support for his background checks bill. (He's said before that the magazine limits measure was tougher for him.) "I think it makes Colorado a safer place," Hickenlooper added. "No one has brought to me information or data that suggests otherwise."
Then, a more, umm… urgent issue. A lack of restrooms on the highways...
Here’s the whole enchilada.
Temporarily Going Underground
I'll be tunneling in tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern to the Moretti Underground to discuss fraudulent ATF and DOJ attorneys -- something I've been hammering on and very few others have noticed.
Too bad it's gotta be done underground, as most "real reporters" have no incentive to tell people about corruption in the administration they still have a giddy crush on. The problem with that, of course, is if it's not "headline news," the politicians figure it's safe to ignore and they can get more ink making noise about something else.
That's why I keep asking for force multipliers to spread the word.
You'll be able to click here to listen.

Repeal Rally
The text of Graham’s measure, HB 1886, is fairly simple. It would send the 18-page gun control measure, passed by voters last November, back to the voters at the next general election. [More]If there is information that says gun owners can expect better funding, a superior information campaign and different results from last time, I haven't seen it. Maybe this week I can find time to flesh out some further thoughts on that.

Like a Good Neighbor
I have a very good friend whose neighbor is on vacation. Because of beaucoup snow, he has been putting tire tracks in the neighbor's driveway so the house appears occupied from the road. Due to the current heavy snow conditions, this morning, after he cleared his own driveway, my friend took his snowblower next door and did that one, too, on his own initiative and without being asked.
This has multiple benefits of establishing continual goodwill, and also in keeping his neighborhood protected by removing a telltale sign that could attract burglars. While my friend is also active in national and state-level matters -- and in a good way or he wouldn't be my friend -- this is getting involved locally and personally, something we also can't overlook.
And sure, it would have been a lot easier to ignore things, with plenty of excuses to justify non-involvement. My friend is not the type who considers his sole contribution to be having an opinion.
I'm certain there would be no shortage of private jetsetter-funded environmentalcases who would condemn my starting-to-get-up-there-in-age friend for using a gas-powered Briggs & Stratton assaultblower, and would prefer he increase his heart attack risks by doing things the Gaia-friendly way (hey, do we have to show respect and spell that G--a?). Besides, he's one of those evil gun owners, and we could all do with fewer of those selfish haters, right?

A Libertarian Paradox
This time, frequent comment poster russn8r, whose conclusions about the destructive results of "amnesty" I happen to agree with, crosses swords with my friend Bruce Krafft in addressing "no borders" libertarianism as endorsed by another friend, L. Neil Smith. See comments under the linked article. [More]
I agree that, assuming we're not on the cusp of a new dark age, governments, which are a form of social technology, can evolve to the point where the advantages of voluntary and contractual associations and self-government, with private enforcement via positive and negative incentive mechanisms, would replace what is currently being haphazardly and unjustly done through coercion and force. Once we had tribal chiefs, then kings, and now, evidently, sorcerers. Perhaps there will come a time when we can rule ourselves without interference, and render those who would control us lunatic curiosities and pariahs .
That said, I don't see how we are to get from here to there by opening the floodgates to the system currently in place and occupying the same territory with disparate cultures, especially with the next step in that plan apparently being civil war by selective assassinations after the political consequences some of us are warning against actually occur. I didn't see that point denied.
As I've noted before, and will repeat here again, if anyone has actual data -- not opinions or wishful thinking-- to refute the documented observation that the millions of illegal immigrants the Obama administration says "have earned the right to be citizens" will not politically identify overwhelmingly with the Democrats and the gun-grabbers, present your evidence. That's the dispassionate discussion I am offering once more.
But do me a favor and present your views over there. That's where more people need to see the conversation, plus I'm overwhelmed with work today and will make comment moderation here a lower priority than getting my primary tasks done.

‘Vindictive prosecution’ subjects self-defense to ‘community standards'
In the doctor’s case, Berberian revealed the standards he wants imposed when he argued Simon sought a confrontation and should have locked himself in his home (presumably making sure he could safely usher his wife in first). First, read the 21 questions. Ask yourself, were this your case against the government, if you’d want them answered. Then be a force multiplier and help spread the word -- something even now most major media with a few notable exceptions has avoided doing -- just like with Fast and Furious. That means if the word is to get out, it’s up to people who care to bypass a resistant “legitimate news media.” [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report is also today's Five-Minute Activism project. The establishment press will ignore this, so the politicians will figure it's not important. Help convince them otherwise. Please take a moment and spread the word.
'One Percenters' may find escape leads to trap of their own making
Men may die for a lot of things, for loved ones, for convictions, for country... but for their boss? [More]My latest JPFO Alert wonders what well-heeled anti-gunners with bug-out plans will do should "servants" take a page from the government playbook and assume the role of masters...
Maybe, just maybe, it will prove better to be a member of the Three Percent rather than the One Percent.

I love how the "progressives" she's no doubt indiscriminately spraying also almost universally hold the position that police are the "Only Ones" who can be trusted with guns in a public setting. I'll bet they'd all be fine if Officer Bipolar/Possessed here walked into the House and Senate galleries and other public buildings with a gun, solely because of the magic badge and uniform. I have been to many an armed event over the years, and never once seen a gun owner act like this.

The Case of the Overlooked Office-Seekers
Mr. Hardy waxes eloquent before the Ninth Circuit in their Tuscon road show about ... beats me, something about the Libertarian Party being squeezed out because the State of Arizona is giving all its political love to the Bad and the Ugly, but ignoring the Good. A "Progressive" Reaction
To this.
What a maroon.
I also wonder if any of the critics from "our side" -- who were taking the earlier headlines as all the proof they need to pronounce the guy out of control -- will walk back any of their opinions.
I guess if everybody keeps the pressure on and the spotlight focused, they're bound to spot something and then get all frenzied over it. Kind of makes me wonder who's more dysfunctional...
Here's the only question I think it's any of my damn business to know, because due process affects us all: Did he get his guns back?

A Brief History of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership
JPFO served a function matched by no other group in the freedom struggle, mobilizing a constituency that up to that point lacked voice. Oddly enough, it resonated as loudly with Gentiles as with Jews, a point that surprised Aaron but one he took in stride. He happily accepted any support in the quintessential battle that would never again allow government—or anyone—to attempt to wipe out His People—or anyone. [More]How we got from there to here. This is really a good behind-the-scenes narrative.
I am painfully aware of some friends who do not accept the new "here." I can tell you this much from discussions I am not at liberty to share in detail: This came from the heart of Alan Korwin and those he credited with assistance. It was not directed and controlled and finessed from "on high."
I do see one assertion I expect to be contested:
Some of the writers, apparently led by Claire Wolfe, considered taking the group over, but they lacked the resources to do so.I do not have specific knowledge of what that entailed or what resources were on the table. I won't be surprised to hear more on that from The Zelman Partisans, and if a rebuttal is presented there, I'll make sure and link to it from WarOnGuns.
-----
This is tangentially-related, but it's not part of my promotion of Korwin's piece, so I'm fine-printing it to set it apart:
There's one other personal note I think it's important to add -- In group discussion, I requested clarification if there is any topic I am prohibited from writing about for JPFO, or any desire to pre-approve or censor what I say. Alan Gottlieb assured me I am free to continue as I have been since before the merger took place. Naturally, I would not abuse that with an attack against the group or any of its leaders, or anything that runs counter to the mission and principles of JPFO, and expect it to be posted on their website -- If I feel that strongly, it will be time for me to leave and do the criticizing from my own house, not theirs.
I've seen comments posted around that my association with JPFO could make people perceive me as being a "sellout," particularly since I have not joined in on some of the more scathing criticisms of Gottlieb, some leveled by good friends of mine. If anyone is dishonest or dumb enough to buy into that, I can't get too worked up over it, because that type attacks me all the time. Anybody who thinks I do this to be popular hasn't been paying attention. I have some big differences with Alan, and he knows about them (my friend Dave Workman and I are polar opposites on this, for instance), and I'd have written about what I consider to be a "new paradigm" this week except the breaking Dobyns story and another tip I'm tracking down requiring immediate attention and focus.
I'll disagree with anybody when I think an alternative voice merits being heard. If that means it makes people -- any people -- want to have nothing to do with me, so be it.
UPDATE: Claire Wolfe comments.
UPDATE: And again.

NRA Ignoring Immigration Threat To Gun Rights
Yet GOA seems to be the only gun group drawing attention to the issue. As David Codrea noted in a series of columns last year, the NRA avoids addressing the immigration issue like the plague. [More]I repeat my challenge: It's incumbent on anyone who disagrees to refute this with more than mere opinion. If you have superior numbers, let's have 'em.

Address the damn numbers we're going to have to live with in the real world.
A Disarming Proposition
Several of them, actually. [More]
- Gun bans happen because oath-breakers know they can get away with them politically. How they'll respond when victims sick of having their rights stolen by government criminals cease obeying the bans on a massive scale remains to be seen.
- It's funny, how those who say trust your life to technology couldn't even get a projector to work.
- And, of course, the hive insects behind both of those infringements want to suspend due process and just take guns away on the say-so of someone who may or may not be bearing a grudge or have a will to contest.

About the Dobyns Story
I just got paid a very nice compliment by a reader. After thanking him, I replied:
Please do everything you can to notify everyone from other activists to Jason Chaffetz at Oversight to big media-- just like in the early days of Fast and Furious, we had to pound and push and scream to get things noticed. The only way we can get attention for this is to do the same, meaning we need all the voices we can get spreading the word, sharing the links, demanding it not be buried and banging pots and pans until they can no longer ignore us. I have another story I'm still trying to verify that points to more corruption, and again, I expect to be pestering folks on that one, too...:-)I wish I didn't have to, but what else am I to do?
Revoked judgment in Dobyns case reveals further government misconduct
Contained between such surprisingly literary judicial bookends is much “legalese,” and much “backstory” that in many cases reads more like a novel than like a record of dry facts. It's almost surreal when figures from Operation Fast and Furious appear in this account, and they act in character consistent with how they established themselves in that story. This time, with additional “cast members” (and the legal document at times reads just like a script), the technique of “slow walking” (as in deliberately dragging their feet investigating the arson of Dobyns’ home) brings to mind another “walking” technique employed by ATF in that other installment of the bureau’s directed misadventures. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes more sordid details about the criminals who would apply that designation to you and me.

Wife jailed for 20 YEARS for firing warning shots to scare off abusive husband finally walks free - after legal campaign against 'unfair' Stand Your Ground law made infamous by George Zimmerman's trial [More]Now these people know how to write concentrated talking points!
Except they may have left out the "white privilege" part (I don't know because I couldn't force myself to slog through so much dense hyperbole).
Which means it's up to an old ammosexual gun-humper to recall an inconvenient truth:
To show discriminatory application of the law, the Zimmerman outcome is juxtaposed against that in the Marissa Alexander case, ignoring that Alexander was not under attack when she left her house, went to her garage, retrieved a gun from her vehicle’s glove box and returned to the house to point the gun “in the direction” of her alleged abuser who had his hands in the air, and then fired a shot. To cry Jim Crow racism here, especially since all involved were black, is at best misguided. So that, naturally, is what the editorial does. That, and of course, Zimmerman's attorney didn't present a SYG defense.
Personally, I'm glad she's finally out. I hope she learned her lesson and everyone now agrees if she's safe enough to be living among us, she's safe enough to get her gun back.
What? We're being lied to? And none of the "progressives" screaming about how Alexander has been denied her rights want her to get a fundamental and supposedly unalienable one back?

I proposed one way to figure out who you want.

This is the most valuable resource the Republican Party will offer our 2016 presidential nominee, and we can't map a path to victory without your support.
