Stop the Threat: "Road Rage"

Heading for Home

Vanderboegh is at SeaTac waiting to board within the hour.  He can't hook into the wifi there, so he asked me to pass along his plan to update us when he gets home.

Me, I'd expect him to be exhausted, and recommend we not burden him with emails and comments until after he gets settled in and takes care of the pile no doubt awaiting him.

I told him not to pull a Conrad Hilton and start calling people "Peasants"... :-)

Last Night on Armed American Radio

Alan Gottlieb updates gun owners on latest court actions in DC and TX, Lee "The Gun Writer" Williams from Sarasota Herald Tribune joins ranch owner Chris Baden discussing court injunction keeping him from shooting on his own 1400 acre ranch, Rob Pincus talks training tour, Amber Kunau and Carrie Lightfoot discuss The Well Armed Woman, David Codrea wit and wisdom. [Listen]
I was on in the last half of Hour Three. We talked about Bloomberg's latest self-outing as a racist, the gun-free PA mall shooting by someone "legally" prohibited from having a gun, and more.

We're the Only Ones Stripped of Everything Enough

Kensington Sgt. Keith Barrow, 47, was suspended after a woman — who he paid $70 for sex — stole his police gun, badge and handcuffs while he was sleeping in a Reno hotel room, his lawyer said. The prostitute gave the weapon to her drug-dealing pimp, who accidentally shot himself in the leg with it the next day, police said. [More]
$186K/year and all he can afford is a $70 whore? Still, they ought to give him an award. After all, due to his actions, an armed criminal is now off the streets.

The story doesn't say if he's married, and I'm wondering if that might impact the goal of wanting to make it home at the end of his shift...

The Single Failure

The inability to enact new gun safety laws after the Sandy Hook school shooting ranks as "the single failure" of his tenure, Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. said in a televised interview. [More]
But think of all those Mexicans you guys succeeded in killing with walked guns, plus you managed to keep everybody who deserved it out of prison.

Several from Workman

Because I don't post full speed on the weekends, I'm catching up with his recent columns, newest first:

Throwing Down the Gauntlet

Why don't we get together at the NRA Convention, somewhere off venue of course, and debate these issues? [More]
As the gadfly/mudbug rhetoric heats up, here's a chance to cool it down and focus on the truths behind the claims, instead of the personalities and emotions behind them. That ought to be the aim of us all.

I don't expect this proposal will be accepted, but if it were, I'd sure want to attend.

"Citizen Sam"

Possibly the ugliest troll I've yet encountered (and I've come across some real hive insect Bolsheviks) is polluting the comment thread over at my column on the tyranny enforcer Bratton making "resisting arrest" -- as defined by NYPD -- a lifetime firearms disability.

I can't tell if he's an Only One, a terminal copsucker, or a "progressive" seeking to disrupt, but in any case, this is a good example of a latter day "Good German" that's every bit the enemy of freedom as the most rabid leftist -- from his other Disqus comments, I'm assuming he fancies himself a "conservative" who's too stupid to realize he's a fascist. .

A Clique of Gadflies

Phil Watson with the Second Amendment Foundation criticized the “we will not comply” movement as a “clique of gadflies.” [More]
Really, Phil?

I repeat my challenge to you personally:

Deconstruct this, point by point. Tell us every assertion that's demonstrably wrong, and prove it.

Sorry you're so invested in what didn't work to where you need to publicly lash out at a new paradigm, and do so relying on ad hominem. I'm sure those he's attempting to appear "reasonable" to appreciate the sound bite, not that they won't turn around and paint the less confrontational as "extremists" whenever it suits their purposes.

Vanderboegh speech highlights gun advocate divide

I don't have a crystal ball, but I believe disparaging and dismissing what we saw yesterday will not serve those doing so well, especially since there is nothing you or I can do about dissuading further such demonstrations. [More]

Bratton ‘resisting arrest’ proposal a ploy to strengthen police state

“NYPD Has a Plan to Magically Turn Anyone It Wants Into a Felon,” Gawker Justice observes in a more hard-edged assessment that includes examples of resisting arrest charges being deliberately unjustly applied. And it’s that felony rap that should most outrage right to keep and bear arms advocates, because such convictions will result in lifetime prohibitions against owning guns, outcomes Bratton and his boss, socialist mayor Bill de Blasio, wouldn't mind seeing more of. Understand these are people who want to deploy with machine guns to control protesters, a wish they've apparently publicly backed down from -- for now. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes these people are terrified of us. If they weren't, they wouldn't be so desperate to stamp out any chance of resisting their will.

Get Off His Side?

He raises points that no doubt are agreed with by many. [More]

That said, people with a different line in the sand are making their defiance known. Whether what happens today causes more to join them or more to distance themselves remains to be seen, but there will be resurgences as infringements without recourse increase. The antis are going to keep pushing, and a growing number of gun owners are getting sick and tired of being told their only option is to repeat failed tactics in places where they have no chance to succeed.

You don't have to like it or feel comfortable with it. I've taken some recent heat for expressing caution and doubts myself. But the one thing we must never forget is that the true extremists are those who would criminalize rights.

Once More into the Breach

Mike reports and philosophizes from Puyallup in anticipation of today's event in Olympia. [More]

I'll do what I can to pass along unique information as the day progresses.  In the mean time, stay tuned to this Facebook page and this Twitter feed.

For instance, let's see if this changes, or if the strategy is just to shut everybody out:

I'll be adding updates throughout the day to the link list at the end of my GRE article.

Wait a Few Days, You'll Hear About It

Because no newspaper or network has breathed a word yet. As always, "Authorized Journalists" need to "legitimize" the report first, not that the corroborating links don't already do that.

Besides, if he wasn't already doing the Lord's work, how else would we ever notice all those screaming headlines about Brian Williams, or learn that Rosie O'Donnell is exiting "The View"?

The guy was useless in Fast and Furious, too, until "real reporters" got involved.  How much information preceded that and has still never been noticed outside of a niche readership again?

It may seem like I'm just bitching for self-serving reasons, and guilty as charged, but the bottom line is this allows the narrative to be controlled by those who would control everything else. And as per standard Bizarro World practice, the illusion of a masses-reaching "maverick" serves that purpose well.

A Wasted Life

I've spent my life studying this, so I won’t return to address idiots with lame, stupid, ignorant arguments and inane insults. [Comment must load]
I'm glad you're impressed with yourself, Sophie. My reactions to that statement are "You didn't learn much" and "Good, but you're projecting."

Gun-Grabbers Keep Pushing Deception Masked as Settled Truth

For starters, “ownership” is a legal and moral term. There can be a big difference between a gun “possessor” and a gun “owner,” and a huge difference in terms of how the two groups behave... While the “reports” will start out talking “gun deaths” to sway the headline surfers and the reading-challenged, it turns out what’s really being highlighted are “rates.” And those hardly reflect real numbers to show where more people are being murdered by criminals with guns they obtained illegally. [More]

This evening's Gun Rights Examiner report notes a significant development in a story that most of Big Boy Media doesn't think is news. The parallels with this and Fast and Furious are almost eerie in terms of what that took to get noticed.

Saturday rally to illustrate new paradigm in gun rights advocacy

The thing is, what I think, or what you think is a moot point as far as Saturday’s planned actions are concerned. Regardless of sentiments, fears, cautions and warnings, it’s “Game on,” and the activists will not be deterred. This is the new paradigm all of us, but especially the "gun groups," need to get used to, because it effectively nullifies any "compromises" some may be inclined to agree to. [More]

Those of you who have been following this feature have no doubt noticed that in addition to the "big" stuff, I've tried to present everyday stuff to give a feel for the sacrifices "ordinary" people went through, and factors that need to be considered to obtain a more whole picture, stuff like supplies, logistics, tactics, personalities, regional matters, schisms, etc. Those are things that would have relevance should all avenues of peaceable redress be blocked and should some decide an "obey or be destroyed" alternative is not acceptable.

For Better or for Worse

Like it or not, Mike's going.

That means all the pro and con advice is now a moot point.

This is the new paradigm all of us, but especially the "gun groups," need to get used to, because it effectively nullifies any "compromises" some may be inclined to agree to. Ultimately, people are going to choose to obey or disobey. Ultimately, people are going to choose if they wish to confront. Once the decision is made, our approval and agreement don't matter. Nothing we say or do is going to stop it.

Once the decision is made, we can condemn them as extremists who make us all look bad, or we can remind any so inclined that the real extremists are those who would deny rights and force their will on others.

I suppose we'll see how many urging "go" will go themselves, and how many who won't will help with the legal costs. But for now, let's think positive, and hope that this turns out to be the genius move some believe it to be.

I don't recall ever praying to be proven absolutely wrong before. That is now my prayer.

School FOIA response points to law violation by anti-gun filmmaker

With events and actions established, the Oakland Police Department probably won’t do anything unless public pressure makes ignoring things problematic. They have evidence that a gun, real or imitation, was brought into a school within their jurisdiction. They have the ability to determine if exemptions were in force if the firearm was real. They have a statement from the school director that if the gun was a replica, it was not authorized. They have cause to investigate to determine if any violations occurred, and no excuse not to aside from they don’t want to. On the flip side, it’s tough to believe they would not throw the book at gun rights supporters for bringing a nonexempt real gun or unauthorized replica gun into a school in order to make a pro-gun advocacy point. Employing a “divide and conquer” strategy against gun owners, often pitting sport shooters against those who own firearms for the primary purposes of protection and freedom, is hardly new. Host Mark Walters was planning on Jay Dobyns making a return appearance, but an important family matter came up, meaning he'll be scheduled for another program.

It did give Mark and me the full third hour to have a good in-depth conversation.

Suing Everytown

Caught in a damaging lie, and this time, it may cost them... [More]

Bob Owens has the scoop. This is a case to watch.

Ask a RadFem

She is focused on gender abolition... [More]
Personally, as long as we're denying reality, I wouldn't mind seeing some militant defiance of the law of gravity from these lunatic hags.

I guess it doesn't occur to them their argument is with God...?

[Via Jeet]

Yup!

Nope. [More]

More VA Reporting

Seems kind of funny timing for this, but I'll take it... [More]

A Commitment to Core Principles

Evidently that involves "progressive" academics yakking at some egghead group grope and doing nothing to address getting their cowardly hindquarters out of the way and to stop presuming to make personal defense choices for others... [More]

Not that I have strong feelings on the subject...

It's funny. 40 years later, I only remember the names of four professors, and I'm a guy who can quote Star Trek verbatim and knows all the words to old TV theme songs. The one I remember best was Joe Begala.

As for everything else, Fr. Guido Sarducci was right.

The Way Things Oughtta Be

The bosses ought to be able to freely come a-callin', with everything that implies. [More]

Perpetual Hickenlooper Blues

From CYDL:
Hick was on a local show over the weekend where the public was encouraged to send him questions. Apparently more than a few folks asked about the repeal of our Bloomberg laws. Here’s what he said:

@9NEWSpolitics@hickforco what do you think about the overwhelming push to recall your draconian #2A bills that you didn't even read??
— Dr Conner (@askdrconner)
"Well, I haven't seen the overwhelming desire," Hickenlooper said. "That's a legislative issue." The governor says he hears plenty of support for his background checks bill. (He's said before that the magazine limits measure was tougher for him.) "I think it makes Colorado a safer place," Hickenlooper added. "No one has brought to me information or data that suggests otherwise."
Then, a more, umm… urgent issue. A lack of restrooms on the highways...
Here’s the whole enchilada.

Temporarily Going Underground

I'll be tunneling in tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern to the Moretti Underground to discuss fraudulent ATF and DOJ attorneys -- something I've been hammering on and very few others have noticed.

Too bad it's gotta be done underground, as most "real reporters" have no incentive to tell people about corruption in the administration they still have a giddy crush on. The problem with that, of course, is if it's not "headline news," the politicians figure it's safe to ignore and they can get more ink making noise about something else.

That's why I keep asking for force multipliers to spread the word.

You'll be able to click here to listen.

Paging Jojo Krako

Who's offerin' amnesty? We're reformin'. [More]

Ain't that right, Jojo?

These people sure are adept at weasel-wording and avoiding admitting the inevitable. What liars -- both Walker and the increasingly useful-to-the-establishment Breitbart, which is proving increasingly useless in other vital areas.

Repeal Rally

The text of Graham’s measure, HB 1886, is fairly simple. It would send the 18-page gun control measure, passed by voters last November, back to the voters at the next general election. [More]
If there is information that says gun owners can expect better funding, a superior information campaign and different results from last time, I haven't seen it. The other factor to be considered involves all those "wild cards" who are determined to force the issue.

Maybe this week I can find time to flesh out some further thoughts on that.

Guidance Counselors

So if this isn't an admission that despite denials, the administration was stiffing and choking disapproved industries, why the need for clarification? [More]

Like a Good Neighbor

I have a very good friend whose neighbor is on vacation.  Because of beaucoup snow, he has been putting tire tracks in the neighbor's driveway so the house appears occupied from the road. Due to the current heavy snow conditions, this morning, after he cleared his own driveway, my friend took his snowblower next door and did that one, too, on his own initiative and without being asked.

This has multiple benefits of establishing continual goodwill, and also in keeping his neighborhood protected by removing a telltale sign that could attract burglars. While my friend is also active in national and state-level matters -- and in a good way or he wouldn't be my friend -- this is getting involved locally and personally, something we also can't overlook.

And sure, it would have been a lot easier to ignore things, with plenty of excuses to justify non-involvement. My friend is not the type who considers his sole contribution to be having an opinion.

I'm certain there would be no shortage of private jetsetter-funded environmentalcases who would condemn my starting-to-get-up-there-in-age friend for using a gas-powered Briggs & Stratton assaultblower, and would prefer he increase his heart attack risks by doing things the Gaia-friendly way (hey, do we have to show respect and spell that G--a?). Besides, he's one of those evil gun owners, and we could all do with fewer of those selfish haters, right?

Looks Like I Kicked Over Yet ANOTHER Hornet's Nest

My challenges to those of you urging Mike to go:
  • Do so publicly under your own name.
  • Go with him.
  • Start a fundraising campaign -- right now -- to cover anticipated legal costs.
How easy it is to offer bold advice from the shadows, with no personal costs or risks involved.

A Libertarian Paradox

This time, frequent comment poster russn8r, whose conclusions about the destructive results of "amnesty" I happen to agree with, crosses swords with my friend Bruce Krafft in addressing "no borders" libertarianism as endorsed by another friend, L. Neil Smith. See comments under the linked article. [More]

I agree that, assuming we're not on the cusp of a new dark age, governments, which are a form of social technology, can evolve to the point where the advantages of voluntary and contractual associations and self-government, with private enforcement via positive and negative incentive mechanisms, would replace what is currently being haphazardly and unjustly done through coercion and force.  Once we had tribal chiefs, then kings, and now, evidently, sorcerers. Perhaps there will come a time when we can rule ourselves without interference, and render those who would control us lunatic curiosities and pariahs .

That said, I don't see how we are to get from here to there by opening the floodgates to the system currently in place and occupying the same territory with disparate cultures, especially with the next step in that plan apparently being civil war by selective assassinations after the political consequences some of us are warning against actually occur. I didn't see that point denied.

As I've noted before, and will repeat here again, if anyone has actual data -- not opinions or wishful thinking-- to refute the documented observation that the millions of illegal immigrants the Obama administration says "have earned the right to be citizens" will not politically identify overwhelmingly with the Democrats and the gun-grabbers, present your evidence.  That's the dispassionate discussion I am offering once more.

But do me a favor and present your views over there.  That's where more people need to see the conversation, plus I'm overwhelmed with work today and will make comment moderation here a lower priority than getting my primary tasks done.

Missing the Bigger Picture

Comment poster Russn8r schools a couple of willfully blind and excuse-making deniers, not that I expect either will do anything but argue with someone they ought to just shut up and listen to. [More]

Not Helping

But not you, right, chatroom warrior?

I always wonder if these things come from antis trying to create an impression. In this guy's case, we may find out, as including the president in his online fantasies may catch the notice of those who do not take such comments lightly, and who have the capability of compelling Disqus to share everything it has on the guy:

We're the Fauxnly Ones Pulling Over Enough

A police impersonator tried to pull over an off-duty officer early Thursday morning, police said. [More]
Be aware of these, and how often they've been documented, if for no other reason than the phenomenon may help with a legal defense claim some day.

We're the Only Ones On Thin Ice Enough

Police say an officer in northern Ohio slipped on the ice during a drug search and accidentally shot himself in the hip. [More]
You know the nearer your booger hook to the bang switch, the more you're slip firin' away...

I'm thinking musical extravanganza here, Lee Paige On Ice...

Tonight on Armed American Radio

Host Mark Walters will be joined by:
  • Hour One -- Sniper Jim Gilliland discusses the attacks against Chris Kyle and his sniper brothers by the likes of the loony left
  • Hour Two -- US Rifle Team shooter Annette Wachter; Founder of Next Level Training and Send Me Ammo dot com Mike Hughes
  • Hour Three -- Now that national media has noticed the unprecedented action by the federal judge in his case alleging "fraud upon the court" by Department of Justice attorneys, Mark and I will be resuming our conversation with retired ATF Agent Jay Dobyns to assess where we -- because this affects all of us -- are now, and where we need for this to go.
The program broadcasts from 8 to 11 p.m. Eastern (adjust for your locale). Click here to find a list of stations nationwide, or here to listen via live streaming.

Yeah, I know, there's supposed to be some kind of game on or something this evening, but at least here there won't be any under-inflated balls.
