That said, anyone who waits until streets and stores are likely to be closed has a lesson or two in preparedness they may learn, assuming they make it through to the other side. It reminds me of a woman I know, who will not "allow" guns in her home (disregard for a moment what she's prepared to do about it should someone bring one in anyway.) She has a relative who owns several, and she believes if the situation ever gets really serious, her husband can borrow one from him (assuming the relative is willing, someone can make it across town and back with the goods, that they can even figure out how to load whatever they end up with, and have been spared more than a handful of rounds to load it with.)

What better time to learn how to use a gun, and to develop the proper knowledge, skills, discipline and mindset, than at the very last minute, when determined enemies are advancing on your position?

You know, kids' fare. So our little princes and princesses can grow up to be just like Miley Cyrus or something.

Sorry, but when Red goes down -- on all fours, I mean -- who but an intolerant, hateful specist would not celebrate the "Beauty and the Beast" potentials? Heck, my first thought, on hearing the damsel in distress was Dorothy, was "Toto too?"

I bring this all up because of the brouhaha the Bradys are trying to create with ignorant "PSAs" killing off popular storybook characters due to "lax gun laws." That appears to be a reaction to "NRA Family" featuring fairy tale favorites saving the day with DGUs.

It's "funny" that one "reimagining" brings "progressive"condemnation, but if you dare to raise an eyebrow at their version, prepare to be included on SPLC's "Hate Watch."

"Live and let live" is no longer enough.  And yes, it's in your face now, and they do intend to ram it down your throat.

So even though the Dems might prefer one of their own behind the bench, why change out a reliable player with insider access to the other camp?

Until such time as it is understood that "in common use at the time" refers to true military grade weaponry, and that any "official" deviation from that interpretation will not be tolerated, subversives like Bellis will continue to undermine liberty.

And head coach Kirby Smart is OK with that? Rather than being an inspirational leader deserving of loyalty and condemning the whole "legal" reaction as ridiculous and an abominable travesty, he adds to the pile-on?

Our "institutions of higher learning" certainly are working as intended. I can't help but wonder if unforeseen consequences will result.

I Spoke with Mike Vanderboegh Last Night

He called me from the hospital. He'll be coming home today.

We spoke for several minutes. He actually sounded good -- it was one of those periods when he could reach out and engage. That's why the choice to initiate contact should be his.

Our friend is a brave man. He knows that many are concerned and are asking about him. He knows a lot of us are grateful to benefit from his work and some of us are grateful to know him in person. He appreciates that and he appreciates knowing many of us give him special mention in our prayers.

As long as I had him on the phone, I brought up a couple points of "business":

Those of you who wish to make -- or continue making -- gratitude offerings, please do. I'd hesitated bringing it up the last few times because I wasn't sure if Rosey would be able to endorse a check made out to Mike or to access his Paypal account.  She'll be able to.

I've received inquiries about "Absolved," particularly if there is a link resource for all the posted chapters. I could update that, but knowing Mike was doing rewrites and how the draft may have value for his family, I didn't want to without checking first. Turns out that was the correct call to make.

More information will be forthcoming.

UPDATE: I had sad information I could not share when making the above post. Mike just called again this morning and cleared me to release it.

The doctors give him about a month.

About That 'Single Issue'...

I know Charles has gotten a lot of people furious with him in the past, and that SAF and Gura opposed one of his lawsuits. At the time, I was doing that Scottsdale area radio show and tried to get him on the program, and maybe even host a debate with his detractors, but couldn't get it to happen.

For purposes of this post, I'm not all that interested in hearing how he's a gadfly, or any stirring apologia for compromises. What I'm primarily interested in from this is whether or not his statements can be proven.

Don't Be So Coy

McAuliffe (D) vetoed bills that would have given domestic-violence victims under protective orders the temporary right to carry concealed weapons without applying for permits or getting training.

then:

“Governor McAuliffe applies one standard to bills like these,” Coy wrote in an email. “If they make Virginia safer, he signs them. If they do not, he vetoes them.”

then:

McAuliffe signed identical House and Senate bills to allow the state’s judges and prosecutors to carry concealed weapons without having to undergo the normal permit-application and training process. 

Because judges and prosecutors have powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men?

The only way to explain the seemingly illogical paradox is that special people get special "Only Ones" privileges. That and McAwful and his pet regurgitating vomit-lapper are demonstrable liars.
