Clarifying the Record
[W]hen Lon Horiuchi, under the employ of the FBI, murdered Vickie Weaver at Ruby Ridge, the state of Idaho arrested him for murder. The feds removed the case to federal court and the charges went away.That's a comment under my recent "fundamental court transformation" article on AmmoLand. The ultimate outcome is correct, but it's also incomplete, and it's important people learn of /don't forget the sordid details behind the dismissal, because I've continued to see Horiuchi defenders claim he was acquitted, like that excuses everything.
I know Horiuchi was charged. If he was actually physically arrested, that's not part of the small piece I was remotely involved in.
I’d been part of a group of activists pressing for local prosecution for
years . And yes, initially the feds claimed immunity, and used the Supremacy
clause as the basis for dismissal. But Boundary County finally got the go-ahead
to prosecute Horiuchi from a Ninth Circuit panel.
The prosecutor had felony forgery charges hanging over him, and
I speculated at the time that made him vulnerable to being compromised:
Sure enough, the prosecutor folded on the case, citing some unbelievable crap about healing the divisiveness, at which point the Ninth Circuit granted the County's motion to dismiss.
Two other friends and I publicly called “BS” on him and his excuses:

No Washington General can take the court—much less cash his check—with that epithet dancing over his head like some Satanic Spirit. But for the former, this priestly grace comes at the direct expense of their worldly interests. Do they honestly believe that the right enterprise zone or charter school policy will arouse 50.01% of our newer voters to finally reveal their “natural conservatism” at the ballot box? It hasn’t happened anywhere yet and shows no signs that it ever will. But that doesn’t stop the Republican refrain: more, more, more! No matter how many elections they lose, how many districts tip forever blue, how rarely (if ever) their immigrant vote cracks 40%, the answer is always the same. Funny-- since her ruling was never overturned by a higher court (a Congressional rider on a credit card bill allowed it instead), stare decisis ought to still apply over executive actions in her district. Correcting the Record (Again)
From a misguided comment under "Mexico Repeats Call for U.S. Gun Ban while Ignoring the Obvious":
"The problem is not Obama, fast and tedious was started during the Bush administration."That's a misdirection Obama defenders have been using to try and confuse the issue and take focus off crimes under his administration. Outrageously, it does not serve the media's interest to correct the record. Based on results, people believe it, at least more than understand what really went down.
I tried to address that, years ago, but my voice only carries so far, and rarely escapes the echo chamber. That's just the reality of the situation.
That comment reminds me a refresher wouldn't hurt, courtesy of the internet Archive/Wayback Machine, since Examiner.com removed all articles: "Wide Receiver’ CI: ‘It had nothing to do with Bush or even DOJ."
And no, there were no "tracking devices" placed in the Wide Receiver guns, either.
