Suggesting that she might consider joining a ground-breaking lawsuit to stem the flow of illegal weapons, Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon met yesterday with New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg - the architect of that litigation - to talk about ways both cities can improve education and fight crime...

Her meetings here also took place after Baltimore's deadliest weekend of the year, in which six people were killed - including three who were shot on the street in broad daylight.

"All of these incidents that are happening - all of these victims that are being killed - are from illegal guns," Dixon said as she stood outside New York's City Hall.

It's like watching witch doctors preparing to sacrifice a goat.

I do wish the NRA spokesman would stop ceding the term "gun crimes" when he gets a chance for some media coverage.

So Take a Tip from a Mayor Who Does...

Prosecutors are investigating whether Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon received thousands of dollars in gifts - including fur coats - from a prominent developer whose projects benefited from tax breaks and zoning changes she supported as City Council president, a document obtained by The Sun shows.

Not Mayor Against Guns Sheila...?

Are there no heroes left anywhere...?

Baltimore Implements Roach Motel Registration

Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon has signed a key component of her crime-fighting plan.

The bill requires gun offenders to register their address every six months.

Looks like the Baltimore Social Registry is finally ready to roll out. Who could be against that? After all, it's not like any one of us deciding that a threat outweighed legal consequences would ever be caught up in such a net.

That the baddest of the bad will ignore this, or that it is unenforceable outside Sheila's jurisdiction is hardly the point. The point is, guns and gun owners can now be vilified and associated with the scummiest dregs of society--perverts all.

Vermin.

What they need now is some way to put serial numbers on list "members." Perhaps some form of arm tattoo, as has been done with "gun criminals" in days gone by?

The Baltimore Social Registry

A Baltimore City Council committee has approved Mayor Sheila Dixon's proposal for a public gun crime registry -- similar to sex offender registries....

Gun offenders who fail to register could face jail time.

The term "gun offenders," of course, includes those who are caught with the means of defense on hand because they fear for their lives. As for those who commit violent crimes, one can only wonder why most of them are living among us in the first place, and how many of the remainder are already registered with parole officers...

And, of course, no murders will be prevented. And of those that are solved, how many does anyone honestly think will be because of this stupid list?

But it gets herhonor's name in the paper, and she can brag to her willing dupes in "the community" how she's protecting them. This is just another small step in the agenda of portraying all gun owners as seedy, as perverse, as less than righteous human beings, as...vermin.

The Sex...Uh...Gun Offender Registry

In an effort to fight the city's spike in gun-related crime, Mayor Sheila Dixon yesterday introduced legislation that would let police - and possibly the public - know home addresses of people convicted of gun violations.

These people just won't stop, will they?
