Red Flags

My passion for protecting our Second Amendment rights has run strong ... As your next Lieutenant Governor, I will help lead the charge to repeal Virginia’s unconstitutional red flag law... [More]

Just to be clear:

"I've never supported red flag laws, don't support red flag laws..."

So VPM has issued a retraction at your demand?

"The proposal has the support of at least two House Republicans: GOP Caucus Chair Tim Hugo (R-Fairfax) and Del. Glenn Davis (R-Virginia Beach)."

And talk about your "passion" notwithstanding, you think Glenn Davis-approved "gun-free zones" strike "a reasonable balance"?

And creating a "reward illegals" magnet will do what for the legislative future of 2A, exactly?

You and Youngkin ought to go together like peas and carrots!

Upside Down on 2A

A few dozen GOP loyalists shouted down Ducey at Saturday’s AZGOP state convention, interrupting his speech to shame him for having proposed “red flag laws.” ... a...couple dozen people stood, waved signs and chanted, “no red flag”... [More]

They were told to shut up and sit down or they would be removed.  Meanwhile, Il Ducey responded by saying "Arizona is the number one pro-Second Amendment state in the nation, and that’s not going to change," and is proceeding with the con that STOP orders are different from "red flag laws" because they're kinder, gentler prior restraint denials of due process or something...

And yeah, I realize you have to subscribe to the Yellow Sheet Report to access the link-- I tried to give you the gist of this story without stepping on their copyrights. If you're interested in getting insider tips on Arizona politics, it looks like a pretty good source.

A Red Letter Day

Congress is about to vote on red flag Gun Confiscation Orders (GCOs)! GOA just discovered “Red Flag” GCOs for those subject to the United States Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) in the 1,362 page 2022 National Defense Authorization Act. We need gun owners to demand their Representative and Senators oppose Gun Confiscation Orders.  [More]

I did my part, for all the good emailing Sherrod Brown will do:

Assuming your choices won't be a complete waste of time, why not take a minute and do this?

Where Do You Go to File a Red Flag Report Around Here, Anyway?

Biden fantasizes about beating up Trump during 'The View' interview: Just 'he and I in a room' [More]
That he's fantasizing is a subjective opinion. Wishing he could commit an act of violence in a high school setting adds to the creepiness of it all. Rational adults don't publicly express a desire to physically assault another human being, and to do so would be a crime of violence, as the only legitimate justification would be in self-defense. After all, haven't we seen before that hitting someone with your fist can prove fatal, and isn't threatening the life of the president a federal crime with an implied terrorist threat and crossing of state lines?

It's too bizarre that he would say that. It's not normal. This sounds to me like it would result in the kind of "extreme risk" Biden pledges to "end":
Incentivize state “extreme risk” laws. Extreme risk laws, also called “red flag” laws, enable family members or law enforcement officials to temporarily remove an individual’s access to firearms when that individual is in crisis and poses a danger to themselves or others. Biden will incentivize the adoption of these laws by giving states funds to implement them. And, he’ll direct the U.S. Department of Justice to issue best practices and offer technical assistance to states interested in enacting an extreme risk law.
What does the government advise us? If you see something, say something? Aren't we constantly being told that ignoring red flags enables violence to happen?

And this is the second time in as many years? Is this an obsession? "All kidding aside"?

It's incumbent on law enforcement to make sure he was just "fantasizing," and until they can investigate and ascertain, to remove those shotguns he advises we fire through doors and off balconies, and whatever other firearms he may possess.

Tell me they wouldn't investigate you and me if we publicly and repeatedly said we wanted time alone with any president so we could beat him into submission.

Playing TAPS over Liberty's Corpse

Here's a collection of related articles on a scary sellout by many Republicans who have been sold to us as "conservatives." In this case, it looks like what they're trying to conserve and expand on is government power and control, building a Chinese "social credit" enforcement apparatus on steroids.

This Crenshaw character is quickly emerging as the perfect Trojan Horse.
The safety excuse rings hollow when you look at how the same people who want to add new chains are the ones responsible for the "need" to.

Like a Gut Nachbar

A red flag law allows you to officially snitch on your neighbors, relatives or friends, and have them detained without bringing real charges. You can do it out of fear, or just suspicion that people you know may be "up to something" without proof. The cops can break in, confiscate property (arms), and the person you rat out ends up with giant legal bills, court dates, a permanent blot that can't be removed -- and they didn't actually do anything -- you just used your expanded legal "right" to red flag the person. [More]
Those Opposite Day "progressives" sure are "forward-thinking."

Swalwell ‘Guilty’ Charge Unintentionally Exposes Absurdity of Red Flag Laws

Still, concluding someone is guilty before they have been proven so beyond a reasonable doubt is the shaky foundation upon which the whole “red flag law” house of cards has been erected. And President Trump himself should be having a “hoist on his own petard” moment when his own words about that are thrown back at him... [More]
Let's hope our president comes to appreciate that “Take the guns first, go through due process second” is every bit as absurdly offensive and un-American as "Sentence first — verdict afterwards."

Come Together Right Now Over Me

During Tuesday’s hearing on confiscatory red flag laws, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said, “every right has limits.” Graham supports red flag laws, and in early March, he told CNN the confiscatory laws represent a place Republicans and Democrats can “come together” on gun control.  [More]
He say "One and one and one is three."

One thing I can tell you is that these guys agree.

Jeremy Renner Divorce Complaint Raises Red Flag, Restraining Order Questions

Because he, with other privileged celebrities, came out in full support of the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence/Bloomberg Mayors Against Illegal Guns agenda to “Demand a Plan.” That means he is enabling their efforts to disarm you, including their support for due process-denying, guilty until proven innocent Red Flag Laws. [More]
Might there be personal projection reasons this overprivileged stage prop "demands a plan" for you and me?

We're the Only Ones Waving a Red Flag Enough

Angry police union members chased away MWRA workers in Everett and Revere today citing safety concerns in the first test of the state’s new rules on road details...

Under new rules, a $42-an-hour Everett detail police officer is no longer required on jobs like the one scheduled this morning in Everett.
Because heaven knows, only an "Only One" is capable of waving a flag for roadside workers--the experience of the other 49 states notwithstanding.

Oh look: They're getting more "disruptive". I guess they're used to being instantly obeyed.
“It’s scary,” Anderson said. “When cops become the criminals, who do you call?”
Now that's the problem, isn't it Barbara? Time was, Bostonians would know the answer to that question.

I'm actually checking my natural outrage at the door on this one, and looking forward to some great potential entertainment--particularly as we witness some true character emerge. Maybe we'll even see some good, old-fashioned police work!

Was Her Face Red

For the first time, a judge has denied a request to take away a man’s guns under Colorado’s new red flag law. A Limon woman claimed a man who she had a relationship with threatened her with a gun and filed the request. [More]

Good on the judge for not being a rubber stamp.

I'd say it's in the public interest to know who is out there making life-destroying false claims, including what their politics are.
