Links for Today

I'm passing on these email tips. Sorry I'm not up to fleshing them out more. Bear with me.

Few details in Salinas police shooting
Police opened fire on an unarmed couple during a routine traffic stop late Tuesday night because one officer "thought he was shot," a high-ranking Salinas Police Department official said Thursday.
"The Only Ones."

Showering with Obama
The other night I dreamt of Barack Obama. He was taking a shower...
I had a similar dream, after reading about Alcee Hastings' FEMA camps. That one had showers, too...

That these stupid, fantasizing hole-filling cows cancel out your vote and mine is about the biggest obscenity I can think of.

Put 'em Back Up
Authorities in Los Angeles say a confidential report on police misconduct that included the names of hundreds of officers was mistakenly posted on the Internet.
Our names are publicized when we're accused...

"A highly respected officer"
A Toronto police trainer and firearms instructor kept her job yesterday despite a conviction for crashing her car in three separate collisions after an afternoon booze-up with fellow officers.
But note she's not above heavy-handed abuse when someone is her victim...

Another "Only One" gun
A Superbowl party in Northeast Philadelphia turned tragic when an off-duty police officer left a loaded gun on a table that was picked up by a friend who accidentally fatally shot his host.
I like how the reportress rues that there was no "safety lock."

We're the Only Ones escorting enough
A Boston police officer is being investigated for allegedly helping two gay porn stars from Sacramento cut through traffic to get to a nightclub.
Thank goodness that's all that went down...

Rahm Emanuel to Gun Owners

Being a supporter of Aaron Zelman and JPFO, I'm not comfortable with captioning like "Israeli citizen" that has been added to this video. we need to be careful that when addressing Zionism, Marxism, the Jewish left, etc. that we don't paint all people with the brush of Antisemitism--something I see entirely too much of in some quarters.

Nonetheless, I think letting this traitor's own words expose him is important, and thus link to a video you must see. [More]

And as if we needed one, here's another reason not to trust ABC News.

The Trail of Tears

I guess the nonsense in Wisconsin isn't the only example of educational establishment hysteria when it comes to guns. They're like that in Colorado, too... [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column expands on an outrage we introduced here yesterday.

Please share the link far and wide.

This Day in History: February 8

I have lately received several letters from Genl. Schuyler, calling upon me in the most pressing Manner, to send up a proper Reinforcement to secure the important pass of Ticonderoga; as he is very apprehensive, that the Enemy will take the advantage and opportunity of Crossing the lake upon the Ice, and make themselves Masters of that valuable fortress; when the Troops, whose timees are nearly expired, come away. Still Under the Weather...

Believe me, I'm more sick and tired of it than anybody.

The good news is I'm on the mend. The bad news is, overdoing it would be stupid. So expect less for a while.

As such, I'm going to be doing an abbreviated set of posts, to give you some of what others of you want me to talk about (and I won't mind if the emails slow down a bit for a while longer--honest), and stuff I want to point out.

In the interests of making my job as effortless as possible, please forgive me if I don't get to your submission, and also if I don't go through the detail work of adding links to contributor names.

Together, we shall persevere through these dark days...or some such.

As always, please do what you can to evangelize my Examiner columns. I know I sound like a nag, but really--it's not like I have a tip jar or anything, and regulars here want to see me be able to feed feral sons Uday and Qusay their daily crust of bread, I trust...?

We're the Only Ones on a Jihad Enough

I'd say Supervisor Chris Norby has it exactly right, and Sandra Hutchens needs to be confined to the Hut of the Unclean. Go on over and lend some support in "Comments." [Via Maureen]

We're the Only Ones Released Enough

Tell me Oscar Grant would have made bail had he executed Johannes Mehserle. Plus the guy already ran to Nevada once--why isn't he considered a flight risk? [Via Maureen]

Meanwhile, Across the Pond in Sarah Brady Paradise

It looks like the entire culture has been infected with mistrust. No wonder they don't trust each other with guns--spouses don't even trust each other with computers.

Fairfax Rumor Control
If it's a legitimate concern, rest assured your NRA-ILA will promptly address it and will give you the straight story.
Just like they did with the Holder nomination!

And I guess Olofson and Fincher aren't legitimate concerns.

Less than Understanding
A local school district has suspended a member of the Young Marines youth leadership group after students saw drill props in her vehicle.
Read this and seethe. Can you imagine being Tustin Amhole...oh wait, that's Amole...

The schools says they have no discretion. Right. Like anyone would dare haul them away if they did the right thing.

You can contact these excremental administraitors here. [Via Tom S]

Explosive Revelations

The vans included homemade explosive devices connected to remote detonators, firearm silencers and jugs filled with sulfuric acid, a known agent for accelerating the decomposition of a body, authorities said.
A fake mustache. Good grief.

Hey--what do you want to bet he got all that stuff at one of those damned American gun shows? [Via Ed M]

Has The Trib Seen the Light?

Some gun owners just don't know what to make of this: a pro-gun editorial in The Chicago Tribune blog. [More]

This Day in History: February 7

This is the fouth day of my being in this disagreeable place, making application to the Governor and Council, for the use of their Factories at Fredricksburg, which I have just obtain’d. I shall set out tomorrow for Petersburgh to get a part of my Saddles made there, and from thence I shall go to Ronoak in North Carolina, to perchase Horses; the price of them being so exorbitant here, that it will be impossible to procure them, that is, such as you would approve of, & I wd shoze to have. The New Blacklist--Part Two

I couldn't just leave this alone.

This follow-up to the story I filed this morning includes the Facebook photo in question, a video, and the news that the ACLU is siding with the teacher.

Please help me get wide coverage for this. Now I'm back to the couch...

The New Blacklist

A Wisconsin middle school teacher has been suspended. Her grave offense against acceptable norms?

[S]chool officials discovered a photo of her with a gun on Facebook. [More]

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column.

Folks, I've pushed it beyond what I should. I'm not fully recovered and am going to go spend the rest of the day taking it easy under wife's orders.

Please understand if I don't get to your emails.

Normally, I'd spend the next hour promoting this Examiner column on various websites and social networks. I'm counting on my friends to help me out here.

I hope by virtue of the fact that many of you are regulars, that means...

Meanwhile, Over at that Wall of Separation the Libs are Always Talking About

President Barack Obama on Thursday signed an order establishing a White House office of faith-based initiatives with a broader mission than the one overseen by his predecessor, Republican George W. Bush.[More]
Besides, it's not like Lightworker worship is religious or anything...the fact that it's the One True Faith means it's...uh...true.

So don't look for Americans United Against Non-Marxist Church/State Partnerships to say much of anything--besides maybe a prayer recited backwards...

Or Better Yet

Here's how it needs to be done. Oil tanker sends distress call, takes evasive actions insofar as it is capable. (Or better yet, armed men aboard oil tanker defend by fire.) [More]

Treason in Calhoun County

Calhoun County Commission

Agenda Item 12.A. (5) for 2/5/09

WHEREAS, present levels of gun violence in the United States are far higher than in nations which regulate gun purchases more stringently,

NOW, THEREFORE, the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners support:

(1) The renewal of the ban on sale or purchase of assault weapons (making the ban permanent); and

(2) The enactment of laws at all levels of government to make it harder for those with diminished mental capacity or criminal intent firearms either legally or illegally. [sic]
I don't have a link to refer you to--I got this via email.

The meeting is tonight, 7:00 p.m. at the County Building at 315 West Green Street in Marshall, MI in the County Commissioners Chambers on the third floor.

Most of us don't live near there and probably can't make it.

Still, if you'd like to tell these august representatives what you think of their bright idea...

Ordinarily, I'd advise letting them have it, but I don't want to complicate the task facing those who plan on attending and speaking, so I'll use their words and only say "Make sure you are heard loud and clear!"

For those of you who do live nearby, Joel Fulton of the Southside Sportman Club will be addressing the board, and could use all the "warm bodies" he can get:
It is imperative that we be in attendance on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. with a strong show of force to demonstrate that we are adamantly opposed to this resolution and that the adoption of this resolution will have a severe negative impact on the re-election of anyone who votes for it. Now is the time to stand up and I ask you to stand with me on Thursday night to protect all of our rights!

Oklahoma Risking Children's Lives!!!

Oklahoma's gun laws are among the weakest in the nation, risking the lives of children and fueling the illegal gun market, according to a national survey released Wednesday. [More]
The Bradys said it. I believe it. That settles it.

Just kidding. They're a bunch of damned liars. I'm sure I could deconstruct this the same way I just did for what they said about Vermont.

That no "Authorized Journalists" call them on their BS just shows what a bunch of subversives and incompetents most of our "government watchdogs" are, too.

Which is one of the reasons I always get on the case of WoG regulars to spread the word on the Gun Rights Examiner columns.

We're the Only Ones Camera Shy Enough

...ten years in jail for photographing a policeman... [More]
Now why would you lot want to do that--unless you're on the side of the terrorists...?

This could also have been titled "Meanwhile, Across the Pond in Sarah Brady Paradise" or "When 'Authorized Journalists' and 'Only Ones' Collide."

Think either the propagandists or the subjects might rethink their comfort levels with the state having a monopoly of force?

A Failing Grade

What amazes me is how often we keep coming back and exposing these Brady shills for what they are, and that they still retain a shred of credibility with anyone. I guess it's tough to argue with someone's religion. [More]
Apparently, the failures at the Brady Campaign won't be satisfied until Vermont's "gunmurder" rate works its way up to Chicago levels.

You have to admit, that would suit their purposes more than the way things are now.

Here's today's Gun Rights Examiner column. Hey, I hate to sound like a broken record, but the visitation stats are slipping--right now I'm in the top 5 for politics (barely), but not on the radar for all national categories. If you are a regular reader, I have to assume you get value from it. If so, would you please take a moment to share the link, maybe post it on a forum...? Or would it be easier to beg for donations so I can have an advertising budget?

I hate to harp, but if I don't, guess what will happen? And based on results, the harping has helped make this category grow and expand:

This Day in History: February 5

Whereas the conduct of the legislature of Great Britain for many years past has been so oppressive on the people of America that of late years they have plainly declared and asserted a right to raise taxes upon the people of America, and to make laws to bind them in all cases whatsoever, without their consent; which conduct, being repugnant to the common rights of mankind, hath obliged the Americans, as freemen, to oppose such oppressive measures, and to assert the rights and privileges they are entitled to by the laws of nature and reason... One Stop Shopping

Where do I go to get rpgs, dynamite, fragmentation grenades, etc. that I want to smuggle into Mexico? [More]

You guessed it! BATFU-monitored gun shops and those damned American gun shows!

And people believe this sh**.

State of the States

Washington reminds itself about the 10th Amendment.

New Hampshire reminds itself about Jeffersonian principles of states' rights.

We shall see if these amount to anything more than high-sounding words.

UPDATE: And Arizona...

OK, Let's Say He Was Wrong

Robert Ollie Sr. said Tuesday he called 911 when he heard the fight begin between his son and four other men, but he said he received a busy signal that Sunday night. [More]
Let's say he was mistaken and misdialed the number.

Or let's say his call had gotten through.

Does anyone seriously believe it would have made a damn bit of difference?

Via WarOnGuns Correspondent GK, who tells me:
This happened pretty near me, and there was an armed robbery across the street this last week and a sexual assault about 1/8th of a mile away...

[W]hile I was carrying my .30-06 and .45 from the car up to my room I had an interesting run in with someone. I usually check to see if someone is in the hallway before I start loading or unloading guns (from the car), as I don't want anyone to know that I have them (until they have entered my apartment without permission). I checked, and then proceeded to take them from my car to my room. A girl opened her door, said simply "oh my God" and slammed the door closed...and then dead-bolted and chained the door. I guess I'm just used to back at home, where if you had a gun people wanted to know what make/model/caliber it is or how the hunting was.

Welcome to Camp Alcee

To direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish national emergency centers on military installations. [More]
Alcee, of course, is against you having guns. Because you're racist.

So it's a good thing they'll make sure you're disarmed before they take you pris... uh... let you in.
