We're the Only Ones. Not You. Us.

A knife-wielding grocery store employee attacked eight co-workers Friday, seriously injuring five before a witness pulled a gun and stopped him, police said.
Let's see...knife-wielding maniac, everybody being victimized, no cops around, what will stop this guy...?

Not resisting? Nope.

Giving him what he wants? Uh, I think he's showing us what he wants.

A hoplophobe? Sorry.

An armed citizen? Bingo!

Lesson here for all to see? A moral person with a gun can not only defend themselves, but also those around them.

"Sour grapes" reaction from "The Only Ones"?
Higgins said police were pulling into the parking lot as Cope was confronting the attacker.

"We commend him," Higgins said. "But we don't encourage people to take that kind of risk. He could have been hurt."
What kind of risk does Higgins recommend people take? Waiting around for them to respond doesn't have risks?

And note the armed citizen resolved this without firing a shot--that is, rather than a gun in private hands being used to kill, here's a real world example of a citizen using a handgun to restore the peace and save lives--both of the victim and the attacker.

UPDATE:
Jason M. informs me:

This occurred in a Schnucks grocery store in TN.

Schnucks just happens to be anti-gun (or least they were in the past) per...

Used to live in MO, and there's not much to recommend it. Was there when Schnucks donated 50,000 to defeat Prop B. When I found out, I left them a note of courtesy, saying, Dear Sirs, I annually spend 5 to 8 thousand dollars in your stores, and have enjoyed them. Since you feel emboldened to take the side of murderers and rapists and thieves, and not the side of honest citizens who pay your wages, you can kiss the money I used to spend here, and my ass, goodbye.

Hurt? He very likely could have been killed. Aiming a gun at the attacker is enough reason for police to shoot his ass and pat each other on the back after getting their story's straight.

"Police discovered today that 8 workers at a Schnooks were knifed, 5 seriously, by a crazed, gun-wielding patron. Their co-worker, who was holding the knife at the time of the attack, bravely attempted to defend them with the knife, some repeatedly.

The gun has been taken into custody and charged with malicious wounding. The gun-owner will be charged with aiding and abbetting a knife crime, money laundering, trafficking, and possibly cock fighting.

The police making the arrest will be honored tonight at a "Knives save lives" dinner.

The co-worker was praised by members of the community and by the Schnooks for bravely defending the others -- one through the throat -- until challenged by the crazed, gun-wielding attacker.

The gun is being held without bail. The gun-man's car is out on bond. The gun-owner is currently in intensive care after slipping and falling repeated against a policeman's nightstick while resisting arrest. There were also multiple boot-shaped bruises around the gunman's ass.

Donations are hereby requested for the 'Knives for Youts' program, to help get healthy knives in the hands of Youts everywhere."

"In related news, police shot and wounded a gun-wielding naked, bloody and bruised woman who was threatening a pantless man with a gun. The police were called to the scene by neighbors who reported hearing screams and cries coming from the woman's house. Police surmise that the woman attacked the man when he accidently entered the wrong house, through a second story window, at around 2 in the morning.

The woman was hysterical, screaming, and pointing a firearm at the scared 6' 2" man, who was trying to protect himself behind a knife in her house. The man, who is still in shock, states that the woman attacked him, repeatedly threwing herself against him and the knife he was attempting to shield himself with. The hysterical woman then retrieved a firearm she had concealed in her bedside table and threatened to shoot him if he did not remove his pants and underwear. The woman claimed she has been "raped" by "a knife-wielding man" but may have a history of violence. The District Attorney is still deciding what charges will be brought against the woman.

Police Psychological Councillors are working with the traumatized man, who has a history of being terrorized by women after he inadvertantly wandered into their various homes in the early morning hours. The man told police that he always enters through second story windows because he loses his keys easily, and if it weren't for the knife that he carries for defense, he doesn't know how he would have survived the attacks of gun-wielding women.

When asked for a comment, the man said "Something should be done about all of these volitile, unstable women who own firearms. They aren't on the police force and they aren't in the military, and I don't see why they should be allowed to own firearms and use them to threaten simple stalkers, like myself. (Editor's note: By 'stalker', the man is referring to a practice similar to bird watching, where one must remain silent and still much of the time.)"
