Shutting it Down

Hundreds of angry people marched through Harlem on Saturday after the Rev. Al Sharpton promised to "close this city down" to protest the acquittals of three police detectives in the 50-shot barrage that killed a groom on his wedding day and wounded two friends.
Interesting pickle the "liberals" have gotten themselves into.

I wonder if they're going to call out the "Hercules Teams"? And if they do, what the reaction will be in Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit...

Never thought I could agree with sharpton but I hope he burns NY to the ground -

The "only ones" cheat and abuse the system and have more rights than me. Citizens should have more rights and protections than the police - not the other way around

If a citizen even displays a gun he can be jailed and looses his rights forever - even protecting your own life they can prosecute you. These cops should be jailed and loose EVERYTHING they ever had and they should be paying Sean Bell's family for as long as they remain alive.

Incidents like this destroy the justice system and the country because they slap us in the face with the insulting reality that there is indeed a two tier system - that cops have more rights than us-

I say NO - cops have less rights than us - they have the right to be safe and go home at the end of the day but they do not have the right to be a class of BULLIES and that is exactly what they have become, the bully class, singled out for preferential treatment, licenses to be rude, to abuse and to kill.

If the feds can not convict cops who fire 50 shots at an unarmed man, no one is safe and New York City should be burned to the ground as a warning to every other city and department that condones and stands for bullying and abusing the citizens.

The cops work for us - not the other way around.

to the anonymous who said "never thought I would agree with sharpton" Any time one finds oneself agreeing with Sharpton (or many others) one should detach, sit down, and start reviewing the basics. Sharpton is a prodromal blood dancer. I don't know how to put in quotes in the goofy little comment window, but a quick search will reveal he supports registation at the federal level.

He's also an MSM darling, and had apparently inexhaustible air time over the past few days.

It's hard to argue with ppl who think that black Americans are an especial target by "LEO" entities, given reports by those I know personally but even were that case, neither Sharpton nor any of the other MSM anointed "black spokesmen" do anything other than obsfucate the issue of civilian disarmament, and "marching" and inciting disorder is now equivalent to asking for mass homicide by govt here, whether that can be denoted genocide or not. Review recent posts here about the Mayor's latest.

I truly hope and pray the the worst does not happen. But the signs are too clear to be ignored.

An addition: one too common reaction of well meaning black Americans is to reject Sharpton et al and then grudgingly or not, accept or acquisce in current NYC
federal etc. policies. cycjec

When I said I found myself agreeing with sharpton I only meant to the limited extent of burning ny to the ground.
