We're the Only Ones Keeping You Safe Enough

"It is with great hope that we can put a gun lock on every gun to keep kids and the families safe."[More]
Every gun. Except for your super-special "Only One" gun, right, Vernotis?

"According to the Center for Disease Control, over 3,000 children and teenagers are killed by gunfire each year in America. Approximately 60 of those deaths are accidental."
"It's hard to believe, but according to the NRA, a child or teenager is accidentally killed by a firearm every 5.8 days."

There is some insane math going on here. If a teenager or child is killed every 5.8 days then thats about 70 deaths a year, not 3000. Cleary the people writing the article have no basic comprehension of statistics or math, because those numbers don't cohere. Though probably include "children" as old as 24 to inflate their statistics.

Steve, the reporter is stating the 1 day in 5.8 thing in regard to "accidental" not total "killed by gunfire". That's why you come up with 70, which is close to his 60.

Of course 1 accident in a country of > 300,000,000 people every 6 days is not a whole lot compared to multiple drownings in swimming pools EACH day, a coupla hundred fatal auto accident victims EACH day. Plus the autos* and the pools do not do a damn thing to protect your country from an oppressive government.

* well, maybe a full-auto, but you know what I meant ;-)
