Some time ago I wrote The Poor Man's Survival Arsenal and The Poor Man's Survival Arsenal Revisited, both articles detailed a bare bones set of firearms – this basic set of firearms would cover everything from foraging to self defense, yet be low cost.I'm sure there could be no end to the personal preferences debate. Still, this is useful to get people thinking and to get a dialog going, which is what M.D. Creekmore is looking for.

Get what you want before everything's illegal. The Customs and Border Enforcement knife ban sends a definite message. While we're watching Congress with eagle eyes, the termite-like bureaucrats riddle the infrastructure of freedom unseen.
And don't forget the most important tools in the box, folks. A quick wit, and a hard mind. Getting scared and worried are par for the course. An unbending will to live, and the guts to make it so, no matter what, will probably see you through.
Defender, that's the main reason I wrote the article to help people make better choices when putting together a battery of firearms.
We need to cover all the basics, hunting, self-defense concealment etc. And we need to do it now while we still can - legally.

I agree fully "your mind is your most powerful weapon" but then it sure is nice to be able to back it up with accurate firepower...
I'd replace the .38s with .357s. Expands your ammo choices.
