Serial killers usually start with pets and small animals. It's just a matter of time before they (collectively) move up.

I have begun to be sure that there must be some incentives unknown to most of us for these acts. There are too many of them to be sheer incompetence.

In a book I read once
Confessions of a Concierge
I recall reading that the Germans (Nazis) ordered that all dogs in Paris be shot. They however were unable to carry this out, and the person whose life was the subjec of the book was greeted by their
dog unexpectedly.

Also, blacks in some parts of the South were also not allowed to own dogs, I believe, but I have no
source for this.
