Rob Curnock Responds to Gun Questionnaire

Another candidate for the U.S. Congress has responded to my political questionnaire, Rob Curnock, who is running for Texas' Congressional District 17. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at a Q&A.

David,
Do you have a list of candidates to whom you have sent this questionnaire?
I love this idea, by the way. Mr. Curnock's reply is, let's just say, less than stellar. What I mean is that though it may sound good to NRA types, it was a cop out. Anyone can author legislation, so to say he'd have to see the wording first is evasion and misses the point of the questions. He can word it himself and what this questionnaire is trying to do is dig into his mind and find out what he would do if elected.
If this catches on, it will begin to reflect badly on candidates if they don't respond specifically to these questions. I like that idea.

I haven't posted the list--I'll have something to say later on the ones I have sent it to who have not responded.

It's meant to be a force multiplier--I simply can't do this for everyone. I'd like other gun owners to use this tool to nail their candidates down--or show them practicing avoidance or obfuscation. We deserve to know.

I agree with your observations--especially when you look at the candid and explicit answers provided by the NV senate candidates. I purposely did not point this out in my article because it will be more powerful if readers come to their own conclusion without me overtly influencing it. But do feel free to share your comment over at Examiner.

Will do (on sharing the comment at the Examiner).

Oh, and the reason I was asking for the list of recipients is precisely to fulfill your purpose. I didn't want to duplicate your work, but I guess it doesn't hurt if they receive more than one copy of the questionnaire. :-)

His answer sounds like the typical political double-speak to me. Placate the masses with ambiguity and they will just go back to sleep.

I haven't sent them to that many. Basically NV senators and a few congress candidates in TX. Shoot me an email if you have someone in mind and I'll let you know if I've approached them--odds are, I haven't.

Haven't identified any yet except for my existing congresscritters. Will research who's up for re-election and who their challengers are and report back.
