Ironic karma, really-- I've been urging caution and warning against falling for fake news on this. I can't tell you how many tips I've passed on because they either didn't pass the smell test or were not validated anywhere else.
I'd passed on this rumor, too, but thought one was finally corroborated. They had me at the logo, the use of "CNN" and the url.

One zinger embedded among dozens of legitimate stories that have shown up on other sites. Someone created that entire site, cnn-internationaledition.com, for the sole purpose of circulating one fake article.
That's a new one on me.
