As the Net Tightens

To improve the prohibitions on money laundering, and for other purposes. [More]
Funny. I don't hear anyone arguing the Founders could have never imagined bitcoins.

Remember: Always think forfeiture!

And don't worry about this. They don't and they're professionals.

We're the Only Ones Off the Cuff Enough

A 12-year-old Overland Park girl formed a gun with her fingers, pointed at four of her Westridge Middle School classmates one at a time, and then turned the pretend weapon toward herself. Police hauled her out of school in handcuffs, arrested her and charged the child with a felony for threatening. [More]

Hey, she's lucky she wasn't in New York.

The We're Anti-American Traitors Act of 2019

Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) today led a group of senators in introducing the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019, an updated bill to ban the sale, transfer, manufacture and importation of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. WARNING: Totalitarians May Be Hazardous to Your Health

The plan is modeled after the surgeon general’s warning required on cigarettes. [More]
Yeah, after all those years and all that unconstitutional interference, does anybody have a handle on how many lives have been saved because people were persuaded to change their behavior by a label?

And this is setting the stage for discrimination lawsuits because the warnings did not also come in Spanish, Arabic, Somali...

Here's a challenge for Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito.* It's something I like to ask all self-appointed "experts" who have zero experience-based knowledge:

You're in your office and you suddenly hear a series of loud bangs, possibly followed by terrified screaming and sounds of panicked people trying to escape. Then you hear more bangs, closer this time, and maybe some hysterical pleading or moans of agony. Whatever it is, it's coming your way, approaching your position. It will be upon you in a matter of several seconds.

What are you personally prepared to do about it?

* Curiously, Ms. Hyphenated-Name and those like her perfectly fit the term "apodictator," which I just coined this morning after receiving a forward of Merriam-Webster's "Word for the Day" email featuring the term "apodictic." The definition made me think of the utter certainty with which control freak collectivists mandate their prescriptions to force their "fixes" on everyone. (Confession: Actually, my first thought was that old Little Rascals joke.)

Great Question

The ATF link is actually very relevant to something I'm working on right now.

Damn Bill of Rights!

It took one mass shooting for New Zealand to ban assault weapons - The US’s unique politics and political system make it much harder for America to take similarly swift action. [More]

Second Amendment Remedies

A Democratic congressman from Long Island implied that Americans should grab weapons and oppose President Trump by force, if the commander-in-chief doesn’t follow the Constitution. [More]
I agree in principle -- it doesn't matter who the oath-breaking tyrant is. Funny, though, how Republican Sharron Angle was condemned and ridiculed for implying the same thing.

And funny how Tom Suozzi doesn't really seem to grok the disconnect.  Chances are he's just being a subversive punk, that is, a Democratic congressman from Long Island.

We're the Only Ones Murderous Enough

Just so Officer Safety &  Co. could make it home at the end of his shift. [More]

I'm waiting for the antis to find a way to blame this on a citizen having a gun.

UPDATE: No sooner do I call that then I see this just in from War on Guns Correspondent Bluesgal:
The NRA is to blame for police shooting of Philando Castile by encouraging citizens to arm themselves
By that Kuntzman douche who whined how he got PSTD from firing an AR. He's discovered this gets him attention, so now he's just trolling.

We're the Only Ones Safeguarding Enough

The ruling says that gives police flexibility while safeguarding the rights of lawfully armed individuals. [More]
Abrogating your rights = safeguarding them.

You know, war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength...

The New Leni Riefenstahls

Facebook, Google tell Congress they're fighting extremist content with counterpropaganda [More]
And, of course, it depends upon what the meaning of the word "extremist" is.

Looks like they've finally found a way to control the narrative -- at least on a mass scale.

"Progressives" would be screaming "Antitrust!" at the top of their lungs if this didn't serve their agenda.

Disenfranchising Illegals

Thousands of Arizonans are being denied the right to vote by the way the state is handling voter registration applications that don’t provide proof of citizenship, according to a new lawsuit. [More]
Yes, it's come to this. And watch some federal judge agree.

Good thing this has nothing to do with that "single issue," eh, Wayne? Chris? Grover...?

Anyone? Bueller...?

We're the Only Ones Gun Running Enough

After withdrawing his application, Gill bought the firearms and sold them online in 2016. The agency said Gill had engaged in approximately 645 transactions ... [More]
And selling to people "he had reason to believe intended to use or dispose of the firearms unlawfully"?

You'd think an experienced agent would know better than to step on toes and act above his pay grade.

Swaying the Jury

Brett Heaton Juarez, the jury's foreperson, said the jurors all agreed the business practices of Badger Guns were shoddy. He recounted testimony from the owners that they didn't train workers, didn't have policies and procedures they regularly followed, had not read federal regulations and didn't even know everything that was required on federal gun-selling forms. [More]
This did not need to be. Seeing people hang themselves because they don't do the fundamentals just makes me shake my head. I'm also wondering why the owners were advised to testify, assuming they had a choice.

Let's hope the appeal is handled competently, because this really amounted to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.  I'm just wondering who else is going to be badgered into bankruptcy now that such an unnecessary precedent has been set.

What Have We Learned?

The man shot at school resource officer Mark Dallas, who returned fire ... The officer was not injured, nor was anyone else... [More]
Hat's off to the guy-- kept his head, performed when it counted, no doubt saved lives... all of us should hope to acquit ourselves as well.  Except we're not "allowed" to.

As for the "trained officer" rebuttal, being able to do this and get at least a low "C" does not seem all that unattainable...

A Higher Stakeholder

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. [More]

That and "to each according to his needs," right Jason Patzfahl?

There's only one kind of stakeholder I identify with.
