The next time someone tells you cops are the only ones that should be allowed to carry guns, point out that when the New Orleans mayor called for the police to go back into New Orleans and restore order and stop the criminals from murder, rape and robbery, the cops started turning in their badges. They refused to accept risks they signed up for when they were actually needed for something other than rousting individual citizens.
Then remind them of the cops in Los Angeles that formed a perimeter around South Central, but refused to go in and do their jobs. The citizens had to hold off the scum until NG units arrived to help the citizens. They couldn't help the cops, the cops already had doing nothing down pat.
I suppose it is illegal to slap the criminally stupid into submission, so we will just have to keep pounding it into the thick skulls that nobody has ever been safer for having been made helpless.
