It's Called "Projection"

Though a pacifist at heart, Dick is captivated by the pretty silver handgun. He names it Wendy and starts carrying with him [sic] wherever he goes. Ultimately, the gun becomes a part of his identity.

"Once he finds Wendy, he feels more powerful, more confident within his community...She's the one thing he needs and he clings onto her...

"He spends a night with Wendy, and the day after, he's glowing," the 36-year-old Vinterberg says, laughing. "It's about a Freudian, sexual attraction toward firearms that men have."

Good Lord.

But what a revealing insight into the minds of catty "men" who oppose gun ownership.

Sean lovingly cradled the long rifle and the long knife, and cleaned and oiled them carefully for the umpteenth time."Patience, my angel, he whispered, We won't let this one get away!"

Dr. Sarah Thompson has a very good article about these forms of insanity titled "Raging Against Self Defense". If some of you here haven't read it I think you could find it on JPFO's website.

Hope you don't mind me suggesting it David C.

Right--would have suggested and linked to it but was in a hurry. Actually, this gun/sex substitution nonsense makes me think of nothing so much as that line from Henry V:
"Once more into the breech dear friends, once more..."

Those are the kind of guys I fear selling guns to, (in the shop).

Also, by the way, there are a LOT of FIRST time gun owners coming in as well as getting CCW courses. And these are the sheepish types.

Maybe there is some hope yet.
