California earned a high mark in the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence's annual report card, which grades state gun laws, the Brady Campaign reported this week.So naturally, they're pushing for even more citizen disarmament edicts.
Earning a grade of `A-`, California scored significantly better than the 32 states that received grades of either `D` or `F`. California was among only 10 states that received grades in the `A` and `B` range.
Dix would welcome additional legislation like New Jersey's law that requires handguns to have childproofing technology so that only the gun's owner can fire the weapon.Because what they've imposed just isn't enough.
The California Million Mom March Chapters and Women Against Gun Violence also both support Assembly Bill 352, which would mandate microstamping on new semiautomatic handguns.
It's never enough.

It will only be enough when they have banned and confiscated every gun in the nation.
I always figure that a Brady "A" is appalling, and a Brady "F" is fantastic. Too bad I'm stuck in this "A" state.
David, did you see the blatant lie in that article about California's gun death rates, claiming that they are dropping? Check out the CDC numbers for 2000-2003 at the very least. Their gun death rates are on the rise and have been rising for the past several years.

I look at it somewhat differently. I think it's MORE than enough. So much so, that the evidence of treason is overwhelming. And more than sufficient for a court of law that was operating as intended.

That's pretty clever. Texas got a D -- what's that stand for, "dynamite"? Works for me.
For me, "F" stands for "Freedom."
And I, for one, am happy to be living in a F+ state.
Nicki, your post is right along the lines of something I want to investigate in light of this "Report Card." Compare the crime rates, specifically those related to firearms, of A-B states with those of D-F states.
That should be pretty telling about the Brady Bunch's "Report Card."

Oddly, WISQARS disagrees - from 1990 through 2003, California's firearms homicide rate was higher than the rest of the US, every year. For NON firearms homicide, CA was also higher 1990 - 1999, went lower, and is back even for 2003. For firearms suicide, California was lower than the rest and stayed there; non firearms suicide, CA was higher than the rest 1990 - 1999, went lower for 2 years, back even in 2002 and higher 2003.
For landmarks, 1990 was CA's 'assault weapon' law, 2000 was the extension of that with the 'feature test', and the 10-round magazine limit; 2001 is the 'unsafe firearm' list.
