Dial 911 and Snitch

The Nebraska city's elected leaders and police department are urging residents who see violations to call the 9-1-1 emergency system for an immediate response...

[C]ity prosecutor Marty Conboy said he hasn't had any citations cross his desk.

"We're very grateful people in the city have taken it seriously," Conboy told a local television station. "So far, we have not seen any reports or citations. And as near as I can tell, there have not been any arrests."
What, the petty tyrant wannabe isn't developed enough to be a full-fledged conman?

This is just so wrong, and on so many levels. But it ought to make clear the true purposes of those who would ban, those who would control...and, of course, it highlights the danger of the evil, pathetic snitches among us who can't attain significance in their lives by any other means.

I'm surprised this can't be challenged on the grounds of malfeasance. We'll see if someone dies because emergency resources are tied up--it certainly ought to deflate the perennial argument that more taxes are needed to provide them.

John Schaefer sent me this, along with a link to an earlier story detailing a similar outrage, and giving us an insight into a deviant mind that can't leave others alone and free to make their own choices:
A business owner who left an ashtray sitting out in his shop has been fined $6,000 by New York City's health inspector, who was enforcing the city's tough, new anti-smoking law...Promoted by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an ex-smoker, the law is aimed at protecting workers.
There's no one more self righteous than a reformed whore.

Communities are getting away with this all over America. Criminalizing a legal activity. Make no mistake, this is not a health issue. This is a civil rights issue. This is an infringement upon the rights of a business to attract customers who want to smoke, a legal activity.

I do not smoke (an ex smoker), and I can not stand the smell of smoke. If I want to go eat in a restaurant, I will eat at one that has good ventilation and filters. If a place is smoky, then I will go someplace else. The market should be the guide with these legal activities. Not a bunch of pantie wastes who are of the mentality that if they don't like it, make a law against it.

On another note; Quite a few of these "no smoking" towns are on the forefront of trying to legalize marijuana. That just confuses the ... out of me.

If I were a citizen of that city I'd be outraged, simply over the fact that this ENDANGERS lives. Instead of fielding emergency calls for such things as robbery and fires, an operator could be on the line, dealing with smoking violations. Unbelievable.

Of course the city government's response would be "we have enough 9-1-1 operators to field all calls that come in." Of course you do! You just had to hire more, funded with my city tax, because you just increased the call volume to include smoking violations! What's next, parking violations???

sort of makes one wonder when people will be calling 911 to report suspected Jews, doesn't it?

What's really pathetic is that the Douglas County Emergency Services Coordinator is begging citizens to only use 911 for...wait for it...EMERGENCIES! Simultaneously, the Omaha Police Chief (whose calls are prt of the Douglas County Emergency Service Cooperative) is telling Omahans to dial 911.

Its not about safety, its about revenue generation.
