Handgun Owners Irate Over Having Names Published Online

Dozens of readers have taken issue with The Journal News over its decision to run a list of pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties as part of a wider investigative article.

The names of more than 30,000 licensed handgun owners were posted online as part of "Falling Through the Cracks," the paper's Dec. 10 report...

"The Constitution gives people the right to own guns in this country, and it also gives people the right to know whether they own a gun or not," said Henry Freeman, editor and vice president/news at The Journal News. "This is a public record. People have a right to know that.

"We did take it into consideration and did not publish your street address, which is also public information."
Irate?

Irate doesn't quite cover it, you miserable...

Your understanding of the Constitution is as broken as your moral compass. You're a betrayer of your countrymen and a betrayer of your name. You and your employers may yet end up with blood on your hands.

I've read the 2nd a bunch of times and I just don't remember this part:

"...gives people the right to know whether they own a gun or not."

Miserable slime.

The fourth says they shall be secure in their houses, papers and effects. Obviously the stupid sonofabitch is making up a constitution as he goes. Because he also missed the part where the list is illegal as an infringement that is prohibited by the second..

I think we should post signs and directions to the homes of these traitors, and advertise they have valuables and have not listed a means to protect them or themselves. Anybody? Let's let some of their "disadvantaged" do some of our work for us.

You may be irate about having your name listed on a "gun registry" but what about the people not listed? The paper has provided information as to who does not have a CCW. In other words, they've done the target identification for the bad guys.

Ooooh! David! Can I make up my own Constitutional rights too? C'mon! The papers get to! Me too! Please?

Many gun owners don't have CCWs Ken, either because they don't live where it's allowed, because they're legally prohibited, or because they refuse to ask for permission to exercise a right.

And there are many more who just don't, but may hunt or target shoot. Depending on the locale, I've read anywhere from 2 to 4 % of gun owners apply for carry permits, so any criminal relying on that as a guarantee of home invasion safety won't be playing very good odds.

As an aside, the knowledge that they are directly responsible for the deaths of innocent people has never been an impediment, nor a source of any regret, on the part of the media. They, and their swinish friends in government, law enforcement, and associated bureaucratic lickspittles, murder, rob, rape, and pillage us everday.

It is public information and the public has a right to know...

Yet when searching their website, I could find no similar list of locals that are violent felons, people that committed domestic violence, child predators, child pornography,... etc.

I guess it is more important to know who is carrying guns than who has killed, beat up, raped women or molested children.
