See the left margin for the new poll. How do you want to see the current firestorm resolved?

"Hold my nose and..."

Well, I can see we have learned NOTHING from the last few years.

It's that kind of "lessor of the 2 evils" thinking that has given us the mess we are in today, and will give us the very future policies you fear so badly.

It's that kind of thinking that has allowed the progressive agenda to proceed at a worse pace than it would if we did have a flaming, open liberal in office. At least then we would oppose what they did, instead of saying "Well, we'll just have to go along with it..or else Hillary, Gore, Kerry, 'Jones', _____ might get in!".

Remember Animal Farm. It's that fear of have "Jones back" that allowed the pigs the support they needed to overwrite the founding principles and give the animals exactly what they feared in Jones.

Good-grief, you'd think the last 2 BuSh terms, the numerous Republican back-stabbings, and the explosion in Gov't growth would prove how devastating that thinking is, but you still cling to it. You have learned NOTHING.

People, listen, we have nothing to loose at this point. Just vote your freaking conscience for crying out loud! We gun-owners think of ourselves as the brave, last-standing patriots..Molon labe! and all the bravado...yet we can't even strengthen our spines enough to vote properly! Out of fear we degraded to this: Clinging to scraps and mild beatings in fear of many stripes.

The irony is that if you, out fear, compromise to retain what you have, you will loose it. The last 7 years should be a grand display of this.

This is how the enemy wins...not by brute force, but getting us ACCEPT their policies WILLINGLY. Which what we do every time we ACCEPT the incremental approach of the "lessor-of-the-2-evils".

If this WOG poll is any indication of what the gun-rights movement is, then it shows we have become another PC, unthinking, mainstream group of fools. We have our "issue", but we just go with the flow like everyone else.

Ron Paul is running for president in the next election. Every one-liner about "throwing your vote away", "you'll give the election to the Dems", "We just have to it this way, because it's the way things are...", and every other whiny defeatist remark is but the doctrine of tyrants. (images of Squealer scamping from side to side come to mind)

Sincerely, C.H.

Actually, the way I see it, CH, more voted cumulatively for the alternative choices, meaning the RINO candidate will not be supported--at least by the audience here, who admittedly tend to be more hard core and a smaller percentage of the general gun owner population. The actual election will probably be decided within a few percentage points, so you don't need that much of a critical mass to withhold the margin of victory from the GOP.

My prediction though, is that will probably mean a democrat win. To those who believe that means they'll lose their gun rights--only if you surrender them.

There will be no shortage, CH, of people who will blame those who think like you for such an outcome--but in fact, it was their continued surrender and appeasement for years that brought us to this point--where the repubs feel they can offer us anything and we have no choice but to take it.

Perhaps it will take some losses for the party to return to executing its vaunted principles--if not out of fidelity then out of their realization that enough of a percentage to withhold victory will accept nothing less.

All that said, I do fear we're looking at Hillary in '08...

OH MY GAWD!!! I can't really comprehend your words, and, unfortunately, I can't disagree with them either. This is going to be a sad period of time for this country in general, and gun owners in particular.

Well, one silver lining to this putrid, blacker-than-midnight cloud is that we may not see any real terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, other than by independent followers of a certain "religion," before the 2008 election. To do otherwise might make people vote for a Republican, although the proffering from that party has been tepid, at best.

I'm not really sure I will survive another Clinton presidency; my blood pressure will not take it.
