A former police officer accused of illegally selling hundreds of guns has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.Let's see, he "put 501 guns on the streets" but "pleaded guilty...to one count of making a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm."
Mark Nelson, 35, his wife and two other family members each pleaded guilty in August to one count of making a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm. He received the maximum sentence Tuesday from U.S. District Judge Edmund Sargus Jr.
“I’ve always had high respect for the law,” Nelson said.
Not a bad trade ratio.

I think you left out the best parts on this story.
"Authorities said guns traced to Nelson were used in crimes in several states, and one was found on terrorist suspects detained as they tried to enter Canada in 2005."
So, criminals got their guns through this "Only One".
He was on the Columbus, OH police force. The same city that banned semi-automatic handguns. Do you think maybe they should have looked to their own house before lashing out at civillian gun ownership?
The article states he left his job as a cop due to a "back problem" but also mentions that he became ineligible to purchase firearms himself in the very same year, 2005. The year one gun he sold was found on terrorism suspects. He was ineligible in 2005 due to indictment for felonious assault.
You have to wonder about this "back problem" story as opposed to being under indictment for felonius assault. It sounds like he was diagnosed with departmental CYA
Job security...as if they weren't passing enough damned laws to turn the ordinary person into a criminal.

Glad to see I am not the only Ayn Rand fan here. She got so much right, that she had to be marginalized, and she has been.
