It is well-known that the female is deadlier than the male, including small-fry. When an intruder broke into a private home in Pittsburgh while her parents were away, a 12 year old girl went to the drawer where dad kept his revolver, loaded the .38 as she had been taught to do safely, and fired two shots at the intruder. The first shot hit the ceiling, hut the second hit the break-in artist's leg as he hopped out the window, resulting in his capture when he reported to a doctor for treatment.Fifty years ago, this story brought nods of approval. Today, it would bring endangerment charges against the parents and disapproval from the community at large.

So much has changed in such a little time. Compare these changes in the US with the rapid eradication of the shooting culture in the UK.
In a roughly 50 year period from around 1900 to 1950 we went from commonplace concealed carry as a matter of course to strict licensing and registration- and it only took a few decades from there to the complete handgun and semi-auto rifle ban; and that came with the majority of the public untouched by the passage of the law- gunowners were a tiny minority by then. There are even fewer now and the number dwindles every year.
US shooters need to fight every single anti-gun measure that comes up because it's a steady war of attrition on your rights. Guns Magazine shows you how much the hoplophobes have won already.
I wonder about that 12 year old girl from 50 years ago.
It is entirely possible that she is alive today because of her actions.
Did she have children? Grandchildren? Are there doctors among them? Businesspeople?
How many lives have been saved, or otherwise positively impacted by the actions of that 12 year old girl, her knowledge of that firearm and how to use it properly to defend herself.
