This Day in History: December 7

Princeton is looted

New Brunswick, December 7, 1776 — British and Hessian troops occupied this town and the surrounding countryside today and lost little time looting homes, assaulting women and arresting anyone suspected of aiding the rebel cause.
Also, happy birthday to my father, who turned 21 on this day in 1941, and went on to serve with the United States Marines at, among other places, Guam.

Yes Chris--that was his 21st birthday 'present' that I referred to.

My youngest daughter was born on Pearl Harbor Day, 1976, my great nephew was born on Pearl Harbor Day, 2007.

Apropos of nothing, just important to me.

Semper Fi, Mac. If your father is still with us, thank him for me. My father was in the USAAC, but he has been gone now 24 years. I miss him.

Correction, he's been gone 26 years. Didn't want Daddy to think I forgot, just in case he reads here.
