We're the Only Ones With 'No Appreciable Signs of Impairment' Enough

An on-duty trooper smelling of alcohol harassed construction workers in a busy work zone...The caller said the trooper "got out of the car staggering"... the state trooper is running up and down the road harassing people...and he got out and just tried to fight an old man. And the smell on his breath, he's drunk, really drunk"...

Sgt. Eric Thompson, also smelled alcohol on Grubbs, but determined there was not enough probable cause to make an arrest on a DWI charge...

"He made the determination that (Grubbs) did not show appreciable signs of impairment," Beatty said.
Call me jaded, but why do I think things might have gone down differently had a non-"Only One" been involved...?

Yes I do.

A commoner would be compelled to incriminate himself by taking a "test". He wouldn't argue about it, either.

The trooper was pulled over by deputies, but not tested, arrested, or charged. They called the State Patrol, and a Supervisor responded.

The Supervisor denied that he saw probable cause for arrest, but ordered the trooper to submit to a Breathalyzer anyway.

The trooper refused, risking immediate termination.

The trooper resigned the next day before he could be investigated, arrested, charged, or fired.

The Sheriff is annoyed because the State Patrol let the guy walk, and then blamed his deputies for not arresting the trooper.

The State Patrol is embarrassed because they're already under investigation for having a large number of drunk troopers exposed in the news.

This isn't the Keystone Kops, it's the Insane Only Ones Clown Posse.

OK jaded.

What are the odds that they followed the law and suspended the only one's license?

laws ya know

somehow I would bet it's more a do as our masters say, not as we do case once again.
