South of the Border with the Bush-Brady DoJ

The US has said it will give Mexico access to an electronic database to trace weapons smuggled from the US to powerful drug gangs across the border.
Well if this doesn't solve the problem, nothing will.

At least nothing in the interest of either government to explore...

But it does reveal how AG Mukasey does indeed embrace the same views on the Second Amendment as the "Vote Freedom First President."

Despite the expanded efforts, one American tradition -- the gun show, where federal reporting requirements are significantly looser -- has been identified as a "potential vulnerability," Sullivan said. He said President Bush has indicated he would support a measure in Congress to close that loophole.

Don't forget 1.4 billion in aid for anti-drug operations. IE: Unleashing the ATF hell-hounds upon unsuspecting gun dealers along the border.

Ryan, on that point (if on no other), I think Maximum Mike is being 100% honest--check out some of these "Vote Freedom First" President quotes:

We ought to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. That’s why I’m for instant background checks at gun shows.

[ . . . ]

Secondly, I don’t think we ought to be selling guns to people who shouldn’t have them. That’s why I support instant background checks at gun shows.

[ . . . ]

favors instant background checks (rather than three-day waiting periods) in shops and at gun shows

[ . . . ]

# Supports requiring instant background checks at gun shows by allowing gun show promoters to access the instant check system on behalf of vendors

[ . . . ]

An aide to Bush said the governor has “consistently supported since 1994 the idea of instant background checks at gun shows to make sure the people we don’t want to sell guns to are not buying guns.”

RE: Red's link, specifically the US firearms to mexico pic. Are we allowed to ask which states have the highest population of illegals?

I went looking for that. Found it too. Maps are almost identical.see

Let's all put our pre-approved state blinders on and just ignore the fact. Mmmmkay?
