They were real looking enough. Three wooden plaques each embossed with a gold police shield, a small gun piece and each engraved with an officer's name.Oh, good grief--make a federal case out of it. Sounds like anyone who would sic the feds on someone for exercising their "supreme law of the land"-guaranteed First Amendment right to criticize government is corrupt. Dusting for prints--like I said, good grief.
But these "plaques" sent to the police department Sunday were no awards. They came from a bogus address in Puerto Rico, supposedly sent from a former assistant district attorney and were in recognition for the officers being "corrupt." They were dated "9-11-2007."
As first reported on The Eagle-Tribune's Web site eagletribune.com yesterday, police Chief John Romero has launched an investigation into who sent the packages. He said police are contemplating criminal charges, possibly at the federal level. Police yesterday dusted the plaques for fingerprints. Romero was one of the recipients of the so-called award.
And newsflash: It doesn't matter if you find it "disturbing," employee.
Think about it--if Romero has his way and identifies the sender, armed "Only Ones" will go out to bring him in by force--lethal force if he defies them, or maybe doing a flash-bang dynamic entry regardless--just to be safe from the Plaque Terrorist--and assuming he survives, they'll take him hostage, and assuming he survives that process, they'll try to get a magistrate to throw him in a dungeon.

Now investigate me. I'll even save you the trouble of dusting for fingerprints. Or at least for one of them.

Well, the reaction of the chief to these plaques seems to be prima facie evidence that the sender of the awards was right. The chief IS corrupt.
But the truth is no defense, is it?

If there were threats involved, I could understand some concern. Since all it amounted to is some criticism, I don't see what legal basis they are using to launch an investigation. Seems like the asshole's boss ought to be embarrassed and have a talk with him.
and just HOW MUCH will the investigation cost US?
I'd really love to see the "text involved in the investigation" that was blurred out.

I just read the story about the plaques you received. I had never heard of you until that news item. Thanks to your stupid reaction and illegal threats of prosecution for a legal act I now know who and what you are. Evidently the rest of the country is learning as well. You have become quite a widespread bad joke.
I would have had no idea that you were corrupt, until you proved it. Which you have done by your high-handed excursion into coercive investigations and threats of prosecution just because some disgruntled citizen exercised his God-given and constitutionally guaranteed right to exhibit his displeasure with you, a public servant.
That's right, genius, you are a servant. Not the master. One piece of advice that at the moment seems to be non-applicable, but in time may very well save your life or freedom. Denial of Civil Rights Under Color of Authority is punishable up to and including death. Look it up. It's still on the books.
Now, I don't suppose you are in any danger immediately, but a people, any people, cannot long maintain perpetual fear. They eventually tire of it and become angry. When fear exhaustion turns to righteous anger, it is not good to have been one of the suppliers of that fear.
Knowing your penchant for bullying from behind the badge when someone criticizes you, I think it would be well for me to state that nothing in this message constitutes a threat by me to your person in any way. I don't believe my message will do any good, because if you were smart enough to understand it, you wouldn't be in a position to need to hear it. But, alas, you are. However, if in future you find yourself under indictment (don't laugh, your kind of arrogance has led to many a downfall), you won't be able to say you didn't know better.
You took an oath to uphold the constitution. If you will not do so, then either give up your job or give up your country. I know I would prefer you move to another country, we already have too many like you. People who would crush dissent or opinion at the point of a gun.
Had the person sending you the plaques actually really threatened you we wouldn't be discussing this. He hurt your little feelings, Awwww!
Of course, there is the chance that your fear of him is not what he has done or said, but what he might cause others to investigate.
As you can see, there just aren't any options that auger well for your stupid reaction. And there was no need for that stupid reaction except a fear of which only you know the genesis.

Exactly. If they have the time and resources to expend in pursuit of this, it must mean they're over-funded and over-staffed, ergo the taxpayers are being fleeced.
If he gets a case out of it, we can add the "Crest Maneuver" to the list along with the "Tannerite Maneuver".
