A police force has suspended some firearms training after the death of an officer during an exercise.I dunno blokes--as long as you're not shooting each other, I'd say a little more practice might just be called for.
But I guess that's why decisions involving guns are best made by "The Only Ones."
I guess it makes sense. I mean, really, what actual experience do mere amateurs like you and me have at negligently shooting and killing our co-workers?

After reading the story, it looks like it's actually just a temporary halt to review how they're training. i.e. are they following the four rules (apparently not).
They were firing live rounds ("RIP" shotgun rounds with a training powder instead of CS gas) at a car with a fellow officer inside. They NEED to stop training until they realize which part of that training procedure is stupid!
This was another case of the "less than lethal means it's safe" fallacy getting someone killed.
No, they should have thought about it BEFORE killing one of their guys.
djk - I agree 100%. My point is that since they didn't think about it before they did kill someone, they should stop, until they realize how stupid they've been. (Which they probably won't.)
A better point is that anyone stupid enough to do this in the first place is too far removed from reason to ever benefit from even the most intense training.
You just can't fix stupid.
All of them should be decertified in perpetuity. All the way to the top.
