Weber, who was transferred to Grand Forks, N.D., after the accident, refused to appear on the charges. Through an attorney, she claimed immunity as a federal officer and is trying to transfer the case to U.S. District Court — saying she wouldn’t be treated fairly in Cook County because of hostility toward the Border Patrol.Yeah, that's the same crap that Lon Horiuchi pulled. Must be nice to have such a strong "immune system."
Hey, that's why they're The "Only Ones"--and you're not.

Unfortunately if she was on duty, she is correct, she will have immunity from state or local charges.
A federal judge ruled differently in the Horiuchi case, Paratrooper, which is why I mentioned it. It was the Boundary County ID prosecutor who dropped charges after forgery charges against him were conveniently introduced into the mix.
But this also relates to earlier discussions we've had here, where some believe the sheriff to be the highest LE authority in a county.
We ARE serfs.
It's ironic that New York City is getting strict on immunity with UN diplomats having traffic accidents and misusing their parking privileges, but federal law enforcement can kill Americans "by accident" and never take responsibility.
I call this gross abuse. If she were Code 3 on the way to an emergency, maybe. Just driving, I don't think it's right.
I can't get the link to work. Can't comment as I don't know the story, but I do know you. So I accept your analysis of the incident and it relevance to the Horiuchi travesty.
It's working now, SA--bottom line--fed slams her vehicle into a doctor killing him, and a grand jury indicts her. She refuses to appear saying feds are immune to local jurisdiction.
I'm sure the founding proponents of federalism intended misdemeanor careless driving to be a federal offense--and why she wasn't charged with vehicular manslaughter is beyond me.
"Only Ones," you know, and in this case, extra special federal "Only Ones."
I postulate that every Border Patrol agent in northern Minnesota could be neutralized thoroughly and quickly if the residents of the area decide they have had enough.
Some of those people up there are extremely independent minded. The bitch could better support her agency by facing this very charitable charge. Should this expand into anything more, her fellow officers (or their survivors) can lay the blame directly at her door and the desks of their supervisors.
