This makes sense and is good policy. Look at how many of the 9-11 hijackers were Irish American. You can't be too careful in todays world. With the huge following of Allah by German, Scott, Irish, Jewish and even Mexican Americans the government needs to keep an eye on these slippery citizens. And tax the living crap out of them to do it too!

FEMALE Irish-Americans! At least they were able to get over that Protestant-Catholic thing and work together...
If they want to know when you leave and return across the NATIONAL border, how about STATE borders? Those ladies of 9/11 trained in Florida, lived in Jersey briefly and attacked in New York.
Oh, NYPD is on it, scanning all vehicle license plates coming into Manhattan.
If we know about something they're doing, they're already on the next step.

This hasn't one damn thing to do with homeland security, if it did the border would be closed to ILLEGAL crossing.

What this really is is a prelude to Fascist and Communist style internal passports. This is just another tactic that will be used to intimidate lawful citizens and will be abused where they can establish a coincidence they can expand into criminal charges and convictions for less than obedient citizens.
