We're Mad as Hell and Not Going to Take it Any More

Residents in the north end of Hartford said they are fed up with the shootings in their area and are demanding answers from police.
Right there they're telling us they're not going to get any answers.

What I'm fed up with is volunteer inmates making demands that affect me and mine.

UPDATE: TJH point us to a different approach over at Shooting the Messenger.

As callous as this sounds, the people in the neighborhood deserve the conditions under which they live.

Instead of taking back their own streets they lament that their hired bullies aren't directly engaging the professional bullies on the other side. Duh! That's what bullies do. They don't fight each other, somebody could get hurt. Ergo, both sets of bullies prey on the non-resistant. You know, those who want to do stupid things like make more people helpless by disarming them. Things like holding candlelight vigils that are ignored or laughed at by cops and criminals (lots of overlap here) alike. Things like demanding answers from those who don't respect or fear you.

If they want their neighborhood, their lives, their property respected it will be up to them to make the unalterable physical point. Pleading to bullies never works, not even the ones you pay yourself. After all, even one's hired bullies already know you are too afraid to do anything yourself, so why wouldn't they take advantage also?
