Prewitt said she watched as officers also confiscated what she described as grenades from the home of Benjamin B. Terril, 50, a Buchtel High School science teacher. Terril is in the Summit County Jail on charges of possessing explosive materials, carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons under disability and drug abuse.
I'm still trying to figure out why the hysterics. And what's the legal definition of "arsenal"?
Were they live grenades or those dummy desktop decorations people seem to get in so much trouble over?
Were the "explosive materials" gunpowder containers for reloading, or something a science teacher would have, or even common household chemicals?
You can't have a gun on your person on your own property/in your own home?
And if you have guns in your home you may not drink? (Which, you know is the next "logical" step after bar bans.)
We need to separate the actual conduct, which doesn't sound too bright, from the hand-wringing, that is, SOP when writing about guns by the "Authorized Journalists" at the Akron Leakin' Urinal.
And so much for cooperating with the "Only Ones" and being "a good citizen." He invited the vampire to cross his threshold and they brought in BATFU to make a federal case out of it.
If they pull out the duct tape and chains, he's cooked.

Other than the drunken argument (which isn't a verified fact) and his DUI 16 years ago, the guy sounds like a stand-up model citizen. I think the bottom line here for us gunnies is that if they get into your house, this will happen to you. Beer or no beer, the 'crime' here is clearly...how did they put it..."Preparing for WWIII." It makes everyone uncomfortable enough, and because of all the PSH, the Only Ones manufacture charges. He's screwed...and the chances are he didn't even commit a crime.

You should not talk to the police, and you should not allow them to search anything without a warrant.

The legal definition of "arsenal" is "an establishment for the construction, repair, storage and issue of weapons and ammunition." The alternative definition, the non-legal one, is "a scary place with a lot of guns."
No crime has been committed that I can see. Stories like this one scare me the most. This makes the ignorant assume the possession of the weapons was illegal.
Here is the mistake: "Terril gave officers permission to search his home." Never talk to the police in this kind of situation, and NEVER consent to any search of your person, car, or residence. Specifically state, "I do not cosent to any search."

Their "Busted" video should be viewed by every gun owner in America. It has nothing specifically to do with guns, but everything to do with dealing with ever more intrusive government.
I would not be surprised if this was the start of a rash of raids and adverse stories against ANY "teacher" who has anything at all to do with guns.
The anti-gunners are frothing at the mouth over that school in Texas "allowing" some teachers to carry... and they are going to do everything they can to discredit the whole idea.
Therefore, any "teacher" who even owns a gun is now a target for persecution.

Once again, I see unintented consequences. If you are being peaceful and cooperative and still get kidnapped and stolen from, why bother? Threat LEOs like the vermin they show themselves to be.
Radio report this morning mentioned machine guns, a grenade launcher, and the dreaded killer weed.

The very vagueness of the description of the arsenal tells me a lot more than did what little "maybe" factual information that was imparted.
As for bomb making materials, anyone with a reasonably well stocked kitchen has them too. or any electrical wire and a clock or watch, you now have time bomb making materials.
Or any fuel for internal combustion engines, add a laundry room with laundry soap you now have napalm making materials.
If you have a dollar bill or a ball point pen, you have drug paraphenalia. Now we got your ass! Drugged users preparing to overthrow the government.
I wouldn't think 18 shotguns would be much good as an arsenal. They can be deadly, in close, but wouldn't an arsenal have more effective weaponry?
I'm having my solitary afternoon beer in a room with firearms, ammunition, smokeless and black powder, gunsmithing tools, dummy grenades and an expended LAW in it along with the trophies and fighting knife collection hung on the wall as well as my computer I'm typing this on. Am I a criminal now? I didn't get the memo.
It's hard to feel quite so sorry for the journalists being investigated by the feds because they MIGHT have terrorists or sympathizers as "confidential sources." This sh-- couldn't be going on without their making brave heroes of every GeStaPo agent.
After the Siler case, I have to wonder whether Terril REALLY gave consent.

Lieberman, in a vain attempt to woo Hillary supporters, talked about how pleased Republicans were that Bill Clinton could buck Democratic pressure and work with Republicans to pass NAFTA (which even Mexican peasant farmers hate) and a balanced budget (I missed that one). We had hands across the aisle on that Waco thing, too, I recall.
