A Pistol Shaped Weapon

Not to ignore the greater story, but correspondent VC wants to know what's up with the "pistol shaped weapon" terminology?

So, I guess those Palm Pistols are OK. That or you could argue that anything can be called "pistol-shaped".

Because it's lethal when it's "pistol shaped", had it not been "pistol shaped" he guy would not have died. He would have landed on his head and then got up without a scratch on him.
