This is a "Stick Up"?

Too bad they are willing to sacrifice this basic tenet of American democracy to the political self-interests of members cowed by the powerful gun lobby.
Yeah-- we all know "home rule" means local ordinances by urban Bolsheviks trump unalienable rights.

Now pick a different right to violate locally and watch the WaPo handwringers change their tune.

Non starter, because as the Constitution is written, there is no American democracy. Constitutional representative Republic. And the bill does not call for carrying "assault weapons" openly on the street. The WP is just wetting their pants because people might get to actually stop goblins from having their way with them, which would mean they didn't need the govt. only ones, and therefore, less govt. It really galls me to know the city and the rest of the socialist mob is perfectly comfortable with people unable to effectively stop hideous attacks, in their own homes and about town. Time to feed the hogs.III.

...But, if sponsors of H.R. 6691 have their way, the District would be barred from passing any law that would "prohibit, constructively prohibit, or unduly burden" gun ownership by anyone not barred by existing (and weak) federal gun laws."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Is this piece written by a crackmonkey or a stoner or a stoned crackmonkey?

The Constitution and Bill of Rights supersedes the needs of petty tyrants and their dictates.

Freedom is scary?
Scarier than only the BAD people having it, the way they do now?
I think even a huge drug habit fails to explain it. Maybe the most seductive drug of all ... power over others...
The comPost consistently chooses the side it thinks will win eventually. I guess when you live right under the elephant's butt, the elephant DOES blot out the universe. In reality, it's only the size of an elephant.
I saw a documentary about some villagers who spent a day helping an elephant out of a mudhole. Then they walked away quickly trying to be invisible so it wouldn't charge and trample them.
Kind of like us and our government, especially around April 15th.
Difference is, elephants are SUPPOSED to be wild and dangerous.

The last line says "usurping the rights of city residents." except it means "city residents like it that only criminals have had guns up until now". They assume everyone thinks like them. Liberals, vain? Whodathunkit

Makes me wonder is the author of the article/editorial lives in DC or not. I imagine not. Maybe he or she should get a place down on New Hope Rd and live there a while, then try and tell people there they have no right to protect and defend themselves and their families. Maybe then there would be a better understanding of what its all about.
