This is a placeholder for now because I have not had ads on this blog for years. In case I ever start up again, this will be the policy in effect:
The FTC has some fool nonsense rules about ads on blogs or some such and presumes authority over the First Amendment to compel the unfunded mandate that we who earn ad revenues make some kind of disclosure so you don't think we're getting paid to say nice things about people or God knows what, meaning they must think you're stupid, too. I have had a few ads on this site in the past and may do so again if I think it's worth a try. Combined, I probably couldn't buy a box of good cigars each year, let alone a bottle of George T. Stagg, and that is somehow supposed to compromise my morality to force me to say nice things about products and services I don't mean simply in exchange for filthy lucre. If you believe that, leave now--you're not smart enough to be here. Bottom line, aside from welcoming a sponsor, I will do no posts related to their products or services, or reviews of what they offer.
About "The Only Ones"
The purpose of this feature has never been to bash cops. The only reason I do this is to amass a credible body of evidence to present when those who would deny our right to keep and bear arms use the argument that only government enforcers are professional and trained enough to do so safely and responsibly. And it's also used to illustrate when those of official status, rank or privilege, both in law enforcement and in some other government position, get special breaks not available to we commoners, particularly (but not exclusively) when they're involved in gun-related incidents.
Comment House Rules
Keep them on topic. No spam. No threats against anyone except me. Do not feed trolls--I'll take out the trash. Try to keep it clean. I'm the final arbiter. If you don't like the rules, start your own damn blog.
Link Policy
WarOnGuns reciprocates links with liberty-oriented sites promoting the right to keep and bear arms for all peaceable individuals. If you have linked to me and don't see your site below, it's probably just because I haven't noticed it yet. Shoot me an email via the "Contact Form" (see above in this sidebar) if you want to fix that.
As a general rule I remove links for blogs that have been inactive for over one year.
After seeing this in the search link and reading some of the problems that are posted. I can't help wondering why someone isn't charged with crimes. I'm sure Vonage is a heavy money giver to elections, its called insurance to break laws. Thanks for the information David. I see this as a public service that could save many of us from shysters.
When I went to cell only and didn't want voice over IP anymore, it was like pulling hen's teeth to get them to cancel my service. Hours on the phone with them trying not to disable my account.
Was infuriating.
VoIP call quality was fair. Customer Service was horrid.
No need to use a horrible company. Anyone with high-speed Internet access, a home-made PBX and a power-over-ethernet switch could conceivably become his own telco provider. I wonder why this sort of thing isn't more popular?
On a related note, why did the FCC pick February 17th for the switch date to digital TV signals? If Vonage's geographically-abstracted IP telephony doesn't get a break on E911, why doesn't the FCC get tough on the subversives holding up the digital TV switch? I recommend they drop the hammer on February 1, 2009 at 5:59 PM EST.
Have you ever accidentally stepped in dog feces? You know how it gets stuck in there, and you can never quite get it all out with a stick, or rinse it out, or even abrade it out with sand? It served a purpose for the dog, but you don't want it, and you know it's still there because of the smell. There's a metaphor here somewhere.
I had their service a couple of years ago and had zero problems. I'm sorry to hear you are. I'm not defending them, I'm just giving my personal experience. There is no excuse for bad customer service and reps lying to you. If he's caught, I'm positive he'd be fired. It was that way at all the companies I worked at. Lying to a customer was a definite no no. Have you tried going over this agents head?

Well, I've had Vonage for as long as they've been a company and have had zero issues with them.
Then again, I'm a tech guy and have never had to call them for support so maybe that's the issue.
My calls are clear, always go through, never have any issues, and the price is right.
What's the problem you're having, David?
Not a tech issue. One of their reps lied to me. It's not a misunderstanding, it was a flat-out lie.
That's all the detail I'm going to publicly disclose at this time.
I cancelled my service recently (use Skype and cell only now) and they insisted on keeping my entire monthly payment rather than pro-rating.
The old phone company pro-rates...just sayin'.
as far as the service goes, my experience was terrible.
VoIP my ass. more like static and dropped calls over IP.
