Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Carter said he regrets his decision to release a former Indianapolis Police Department detective jailed as a suspected drunken driver...What circumstances?
Carter said the policy allowing him to release an inmate without a judge's authorization exists because such releases are necessary under certain circumstances.
He said the full police authority wielded by reservists can be valuable to retired professionals, who join the reserves to maintain those powers and be eligible for higher wages in security jobs.Oh, those circumstances?

Two wrongs don't make a right. What do two rights make? We may never know.
Another reason why cops should only be allowed "authority" in specific jurisdictions and only when on duty. All other times they should just be citizens.

Holy cow, the guy's driving around drunk and speeding in a '67 XKE roadster? I believe those are worth more than my house these days.

Yeah, he got special treatment and I am against that. However, I don't have a lot of heartburn with the sheriff if he means it when he says he shouldn't have done it, and he never does it again. It's kind of refreshing to see a cop admit he wasn't right and to see him not make all those damn sissy excuses.
