Best Firearms Marketing Plan Ever

News reports uniformly acknowledge that fears of the incoming Obama administration's attitude towards firearms regulation are behind the workout cash registers are getting in gun shops across the country.
J.D. Tuccille weighs in on the Great Gun Rush of '08. I especially like the assumption he makes at the end, which is my way of saying click on the title link and go read it.

What about "Domestic Battlefields"? I'm positive that's what the framers had in mind. Shhhhh....

I think anybody who has suddenly decided they need to buy guns to defend themselves from the government after eight years of Bushevik rule is at best mentally retarded.

Otherwise, it means they've been perfectly comfortable with a genocidal torturing socialist warmonger who claims absolute dictatorial powers, but the mere election of a man with a "D" after his name instead of an "R" (and who hasn't even taken office yet) is suddenly cause for concern.

The last eight years have shown me something that hadn't occurred to me during the Clinton administration: if (or when) there is a civil war in the country, I should not expect all gun owners to be on the same side after all.

Not the biggest fan of Bush, but anyone who refers to him as "a genocidal torturing socialist warmonger" is at best mentally retarded.

You've got some Kool-Aid on your lip.

The reasoning is because Bush wasn't actively pushing gun control. He never got the chance, to be sure, but you can bet that had the renewal made it to his desk, you would have seen the same jump in sales before he had a chance to sign it. In addition, you'd have seen Kerry in office in 2004.

... if (or when) there is a civil war in the country, I should not expect all gun owners to be on the same side after all.

And why would they? We're not a monolithic block of mindless drones. However, you'd find the vast majority willing to fight on the side of liberty.

Which side will you be on?

The real question on this topic is, are the folks who are rushing out and buying. Are they just going to turn them in if ordered?

avgjoe, only the pragmatic will just turn them in.
