The Second Amendment Foundation, joined by the National Rifle Association, today filed a lawsuit in federal court against the State of Washington, seeking to overturn a state law that discriminates against legal resident aliens who own firearms by violating their Second Amendment rights under the equal protections affirmed by the 14th Amendment.Good for them. If we believe rights depends on club membership, we lose the argument that they are unalienable, inherent to the condition of being human, and predate, and thus do not emanate from, government.
And, ah, look:
The Second Amendment Foundation of Bellevue, Washington, is joining with NRA in filing the suit.
I'm glad it looks like we finally got the matter of proper credit straightened out.

There is a difference between having rights and having the Constitution of the US protect those rights. Illegal aliens have rights as well. That doesn't mean *our constitution* protects those rights. We may choose, by law or presidental order, to protect them.
The phrase "We the People" indicate a bunch of individuals that have choosen to form a voluntary union. A contract if you will. A violent felon has choosen to be apart from that union of people.
Note, I'm not arguing for or against the protection of *legal* resident aliens. I'm arguing against your first section of comments after the quoted blurb.

Clinging to your religion may be fine. But clinging too tightly to your gun may affect your aim.
The BoR protects humans in the USA.
NOT citizens.
The problem with only citizens having rights is that the Govt. gets to start issuing REAL ID, and if it wants to it can deny you!
"Don't worry it's just a computer glitch, it will be cleared up in no time. In the mean time enjoy your stay in Mexico/Canada/whereever."
The Bill Of Rights is everyone.
The Bill of Rights may claim to protect rights, but it merely explains why the shooting of tyrants is justified.
I'm arguing against your first section of comments after the quoted blurb.
technically no you are not.
what violent felon? the word felon isn't in the article.
Any free person (including ex-felons) have a right to self defense and the tools to do so, IMO.
Liberty, is a state of being.
Don't let the anti's sell you anything else, including the biggest gun control scam ever, the NRA.
There should be no need for the existence of the Second Amendment Foundation. "The right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL not be infringed." speaks for itself.
I don't know about y'all, but I'm 'bout ready to strap my pistol onto my belt, walk down the main drag of Spur, Texas, and dare the "others" to arrest me, 14th amendment incorporation be damned. I will plead not guilty and demand a jury trial.
If every one of us will do just that, the courts couldn't handle the load.
You had better be the best warrior there, forget pleading in court.
