Austin police had already disrupted my day significantly because they're supposedly out hunting armed killers, but they've got enough extra cops lollygagging around to send THREE squad cars to investigate me for Babysitting While White?Hey, "Only Ones" want to go home at the end of their shift. Plus, it's "for the children." Besides, if you're not trying to hide something, what's the problem? And remember, "they hate us because we're free!"

Don't know what was worse; the action of the cops or the response from some of those leaving comments defending the right of all police to do pretty much whatever they damned well please.
The second is worse Fits. Without it the cops would not be so encouraged to do as the damned well please.

I used to play a game with comments that I called "... and the revolution began in ___."
It got so the uprising began in a different place every day because so much bad stuff was happening everywhere.
The revolution STILL hasn't openly begun, but there's been a lot of softening-up of the population so they won't be surprised when it does.
Austin seems to be in Major League contention to be the place.
I'm disturbed a little bit by grits' repeated comments about "guys with assault rifles" on the street. What difference does it make what kind of gun they were using in their criminal behavior.
These guys were shooting. What if they hadn't been. What if, as sometimes happens, some members of a gun club were loading one vehicle for a range trip and somebody dropped a dime on them?
Disturbing, also, that the grandfather/grandson pair attracted special attention because they were ON FOOT. That's enough to get asked for ID these days. Times are strange. All these better-safe-than-sorriers are making many of us sorrier but not safer.
