It's unclear whether Anthony Abbate, the officer charged in the beating, will stand trial...What's to plea? They've got the animal attack documented on tape.
"I have to think it is important to get past (the case)...Yeah, that's what the Boundary Country prosecutor said about Lon Horiuchi...
Chicago officials already have set about to change the police department's image...Ah yes. Change the image.
Hog butcher for the world "Only Ones."
Forget it Jake. It's Chi-Town.

Agreed. If they really wanted to "change the image" of Chicago cops being above the law, they'd have already fit this 250-pound lump of crap for his orange jumpsuit.
Getting worse still qualifies as "change".
If you REALLY want a bit of enlightenment, go to the SecondCityCop blog and read what cops there say about Abbate. It's pretty much the consensus that it's not the BEATING that's wrong, but the media showing the video of it "too much". There's substantial opinion there that Abbate shouldn't even be fired, much less prosecuted. But then it was the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police lodge who back in '96 went on National Public Radio to declare that cops should be exempt from any laws disarming those convicted of domestic violence. Apparently a lot of Chicago cops think that violence against women is a perk of the job. Tony Abbate is merely the most visible one.
