We're the Only Ones Dismissed Enough

A Cook County judge today threw out an indictment against a Chicago Police officer accused of falsifying drunken driving arrests. [More]
If it's not acceptable department protocol, it's union rules.

That's why they're the "Only Ones" charged with enforcing laws on the rest of us and you're not. Even if they have to lie about it.

I want my Garrity! (Talk about your opportunity for a Dire Straits parody!)

Forget it, Jake, it's Chi-Town.

And your town...

Unions are communist training camps.

This was an application of the Garrity rule. Not necessarily a union issue. Even non-unionized officers can be protected by it.

Makes investigation of criminals who wear a badge damn dodgy, at best and impossible at worst.

Are cops so collectively stupid that they do not foresee what they are setting in motion? It appears so. It seems they have no idea that they are mortal beings also, and are rapidly causing their continued existence to become intolerable to society. Think French Revolution or the Bolshevik Revolution or the American Revolution. When an apparatus of the governing body becomes intolerable to society, society eventually after suffering all the abuse they will, eliminate them. Whether for good or ill the elimination still takes place. Usually very bloodily.

Since when do union rules have the force of law. This makes about as much sense as the UAW having a policy that you can't hold domestic abuse against their members
