This is a placeholder for now because I have not had ads on this blog for years. In case I ever start up again, this will be the policy in effect:
The FTC has some fool nonsense rules about ads on blogs or some such and presumes authority over the First Amendment to compel the unfunded mandate that we who earn ad revenues make some kind of disclosure so you don't think we're getting paid to say nice things about people or God knows what, meaning they must think you're stupid, too. I have had a few ads on this site in the past and may do so again if I think it's worth a try. Combined, I probably couldn't buy a box of good cigars each year, let alone a bottle of George T. Stagg, and that is somehow supposed to compromise my morality to force me to say nice things about products and services I don't mean simply in exchange for filthy lucre. If you believe that, leave now--you're not smart enough to be here. Bottom line, aside from welcoming a sponsor, I will do no posts related to their products or services, or reviews of what they offer.
About "The Only Ones"
The purpose of this feature has never been to bash cops. The only reason I do this is to amass a credible body of evidence to present when those who would deny our right to keep and bear arms use the argument that only government enforcers are professional and trained enough to do so safely and responsibly. And it's also used to illustrate when those of official status, rank or privilege, both in law enforcement and in some other government position, get special breaks not available to we commoners, particularly (but not exclusively) when they're involved in gun-related incidents.
Comment House Rules
Keep them on topic. No spam. No threats against anyone except me. Do not feed trolls--I'll take out the trash. Try to keep it clean. I'm the final arbiter. If you don't like the rules, start your own damn blog.
Link Policy
WarOnGuns reciprocates links with liberty-oriented sites promoting the right to keep and bear arms for all peaceable individuals. If you have linked to me and don't see your site below, it's probably just because I haven't noticed it yet. Shoot me an email via the "Contact Form" (see above in this sidebar) if you want to fix that.
As a general rule I remove links for blogs that have been inactive for over one year.
Agreed, straightarrow. HEB, ATF, and APD are the villians. This is a way for ATF and the Obama administration to seriously chill big gun shows. We know how this works: People just become callous to having to go through FFL's for illegitimate liability concerns on the host's part, then a few years down the road, it's no big damn deal when they formally outlaw private sales.
Yes, there is a bigger picture. By utilizing the bureaucracy, those seeking to restrict or/and eliminate gun possession and sales can deliver death by 10,000 cuts, rather than a single blow. The regulatory mechanisms exist to do this.
Moreover, this will be enabled by those favoring law and order and the expulsion of illegals over all other principles. I have already spoken to some who believe that implementing such policies is fine because they are now directed against felons and illegals. So damn the the law abiding who wish to buy and sell guns while staying off the federal list. "We gotta get those illegals", even at the expense of our own freedoms.
Howard also forgets to tell us that the "meeting" with the gun show promoter took place 2 days before the event, when his investment was made. And, as for the role of the APD and ATF, why were they even at the meeting if this is merely an issue between private parties? My practice involves dealing with bureaucrats. I know their tricks when they wish to impose an agenda. If private persons were strong-arming parties to a contract, they could be sued for tortious interference.
Howard, get the videotape of the meetings. Let's see the extent to which the ATF and APD participated in this meeting between "private parties."
Had a little bird get back to me and whisper in my ear this morning.
ANONYMOUS F-Troop boys are NOT happy with the man who is in charge of the TGS shutdown. Flat out embarrassed and stated they FIRMLY think DB has a LIBEL suit and more. They knew nothing of it until the little bird landed on their shoulder to ask WTF is going on. The little bird was told NO ONE in their office KNEW anything about it. Seems the F-Troop who in charge likes to make headlines, take heads and was called a PSYCHO, who is despised BY other F-Troopers. This could be PR to cover their asses, but the little bird sounded quite sincere.
Yes, HEB is also to blame for cow-towing, but as has been pointed out, this meeting was set up JUST before this last show and Boedecker took the helm starting NOVEMBER 2009.
IMO- coercion, isn't this is what arm-twisting really is?
Also, for your information, we have scheduled a meeting tonight in Austin for those wanting to mobilize against this: http://www.meetup.com/austinlibertycoalition/calendar/12367822/
We have people reaching out to gun groups and others to encourage attendance.
if APD is concerned with the purchase of firearms by convicted felons and illegal aliens, then why are they A-OK with punishing the sellers of firearms by way of SNATFUs that didn't pass their state police civics exams?
certainly this calls for a touch of interposition -- even assuming texans should allow this sort of thing to any degree, APD can devise a far better and cheaper method of getting what they want at the local gun shows.
Nuisance Abatement itself should be looked at with jaundiced eye, it's local fascism at its core.
I read Mr. Nemerov's report and it's clear that he does not have the bigger picture here, it appears he has way too many friends in blue to see clearly at all.

Howard doesn't usually miss the mark, but he is wrong about there being no 'clear-cut villans', there are.
