This report...is most assuredly worth the read. The report answers some questions about drug trafficking in Mexico and just how uncommitted the Mexican government is to stopping it. Also says something about the so-called US/Mexico gun problem as well as illegal immigration, but you’ll have to read between the lines for those two. Confirms what I‘ve been saying for some time as to whether the Mexican government is actually a friend of the United States.

I will read the link in a bit, and may have more to say, but until then... Who thinks there is even a question as to Mexico's friendliness to the U.S.? Of course, they are not our friends. How many times does someone need to be hit in the mouth before he realizes that the hitter is not showing affection? (rhetorical question)
The report is accurate. However, it avoids addressing that the same facts apply here as well. If the "right" people in government weren't profiting from the drug trade it would be stopped.
I submit that we invade Mexico, rape, rob and pillage it economically then make it a colony with no rights to redress grievances. Much like the Mexican government does now, only for our benefit, for a damn change.
You want to take the money and power away from the narco-gangsters? End the corruption of police, soldiers and politicians?
Legalize the stuff.
But that won't happen either, because legalized drugs would dry up all those politicians' bribes.
Consider: Joseph Kennedy would not have had the money to fund his progeny's political aspirations, if he hadn't been running Canadian whiskey during Prohibition. That's right- those self-righteous bluenosed battleaxes who rammed Prohibition through, saddled us with Teddy Kennedy.
BTW, kudos to Teddy on 7 straight months of sobriety...
