So, to protect the kids from being hurt if a panic should break out, they send in men with big guns...
Local police here once used a tear-gas fog machine under similar circumstances at a party in an apartment. Seems partygoers were STANDING ON THE SIDEWALK WITH A CUP OF BEER. Who knows what kind of civil disturbance could result. People jumping out of windows to avoid asphyxiation was so much better.
Citizens who complained were told the chemical assault was within department policy.
