The CBSAtlanta story is here, and there's no shortage of ignorant comments where readers could benefit from a reality infusion. The video said there was a poll, but the one on the main page now deals with airport security--if anyone can find it, please give us the link in "Comments."
Georgia Gun Owners is carrying the load on this and could use your help:
- Sign the petition.
- And they wouldn't say "No" to a much-needed contribution...

How much do you really know about Georgia Gun Owners? Some people on a forum have done quite a bit of research into them, and do not seem to be a very legitimate group. They also claim "Georgia Gun Owners is the ONLY no-compromise, no-sell out grassroots gun organization in the State of Georgia."
Really? How many bills has Georgia Gun Owners introduced into the legislature in the past two sessions? How many bills has GGO helped sponsor and actually get passed in the state legislature? How many members does GGO have?
GeorgiaCarry.Org has seemingly much more success introducing countless bills into the Georgia legislature, and has gotten one passed for two sessions straight. HB89 (Restaurant Carry where there is alcohol served) and SB308 (Removed the Public Gathering law along with 10 or so other restrictions on carrying a firearm). They also have around 6,200 members in Georgia. It appears to me that GCO is much more efficient at getting laws changed. They are going about this the right way. I'm not sure about GGO.

GCO and myself want Constitutional carry, but I believe there is a right way, and a wrong way about getting laws changed in Georgia.
I have no problem with a second group coming up in Georgia to help us win back our natural 2nd amendment rights, but I am not yet sold on GGO and how they want to go about getting laws changed in the state of Georgia.
I've given Georgia Carry all kinds of publicity in the past and will no doubt continue to do so. That said, it should be no surprise to any regular readers that I'm not big on claims that a "one size fits all" approach is always best, and the tensions between those who do things politically pragmatically and those who go straight for the brass ring have been well documented on this site on many occasions over the years.
This reminds me of the debate I hosted on Examiner between Iowa Carry and Iowa Gun Owners--maybe what we need to do is set a day aside where I can have reps from both orgs conduct a back-and-forth.
I am also very skeptical about this organization. Making all kinds of claims, but I see nothing to back them up.
When I unsubscribed from their email list (which is even more interesting to me because I never SUBSCRIBED to an email list, since I had never heard of them before)they list the method of acquiring my email address as: "list of gun owners in Georgia".
Really? Where is this "list of gun owners" they acquired? I'm rather curious about that one.
Sorry but this sounds all rather shady to me. I'll opt out and stick to GCO.

OMG... Irony alert! Thanks David, this was an amazing find! A real estate agent, who carries a gun thinks people need to be licensed because that "protects" people, just like her real estate license "protects" people. However I have often questioned whether or not real estate agents were responsible for the "housing bubble". Think about this, you go to sell a house, and an agent tacks 6% onto your house when you sell. This artificially forces house prices 6% higher for each sale. That means every 12 house sales, that property has doubled in cost... notice I didn't say value. And it's all because licensed idiots think their license is so great that they deserve that 6%, instead of operating on something like a flat fee system. So I'd say... licenses didn't work in real estate, and don't work with guns... no enormous "buts".
Totally understandable, and I'm sure one day in the future, GCO leadership would love to get in a back and forth.
From those that have actually made contact with GGO to see what they are all about, they have gotten some mixed messages.
All I've really seen from GGO is emails asking for donations and asking me to sign an internet petition. I'm not sure, but I don't think the State of Georgia is just going to drop all gun laws because we have signed a petition stated that we want Constitutional Carry in Georgia.
Also, I don't see anyway of becoming a member of this organization, only asking for donations.
Some have even questioned if this petition even exists, as people have tried to sign it and the website is not working, yet they still ask for donations.
I also don't think its very fair for GGO to state that GSSA and GCO are a bunch of compromising sell outs. Quite the contrary. GCO has never compromised on one bill that has passed in Georgia. We haven't had to take one step back yet, but we have plugged away and gotten many restrictive gun laws repealed.
Also, when the gun laws were being debated at the state house this past session, I don't remember seeing any GGO representatives there.
I'm still very suspicious of this organization, and I would have to find out a lot more about them before I would think of sending them any donations.
If they prove themselves to be an organization who is going to try to work along side GCO at getting our rights restored, I have no problem with that.
What I do have a problem with is that I see no plan to actually get the laws changed from their website, yet they are asking for donations.
I will remain skeptical until I learn more about them or see some results or even a plan that I think will work or be beneficial to changing gun laws here in Georgia.
