For the Children

The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence today filed a brief in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas urging the dismissal of an NRA lawsuit claiming that teens and young persons ages 18-20 have a constitutional right to buy handguns from gun shops. [More]
But we're not "anti-gun" and we'll prove it:

We're all for "Only Ones" having them. Even those who are 18.

A very scary page:

I was looking for this classic quote from Heinrich Himmler/Sarah Brady:

Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA [Brownshirts] — ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State.

In Texas, not only are 18 year olds authorized under rules of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) to be police officers (under special considerations), but any 18 year old with a clean record may be put to work as a county jailer.

Further, the 18 year old police officer is required to pass firearm instructions and demonstrate firearm proficiency in an academy and then demonstrate firearms proficiency on a yearly basis.

The 18 year old jailer, on the other hand, receives no firearm training in his academy course and isn't required to ever demonstrate firearm proficiency, but may carry a firearm in the course of his duties as a jailer. The jailer is specifically authorized by Texas law to implement deadly force in order to prevent an escape from a correctional facility.

I wonder how the Brady Bunch would react to this "only ones" information?

Chicago Only One befriends a teen member of the Gangster Disciples "trying to turn his life around," invites him to his home, shows him his gun collection.
Now he's dead. They would have -- and have -- killed cops for ONE handgun and 18 rounds. CPD staked out the dead cop's house, though, so the guns will go into other cops' collections now, I guess, instead of on the street. Unless THEY sell them to gang members...
But WE and OUR guns are the problem.
Chief Jody Weis seems to have no issues with a CPD officer having a gun collection and fatally bad judgment at the same time. No surprise there.
