And The New Yorker's attempts to diminish this as arising primarily from mercenary motivations notwithstanding, the fruits of our labors are the fruits of our lives. Siphoning sand from a closed-system hourglass that belongs to someone else can result in people realizing how limited and precious their time is.

Tax Freedom Day 2011 is estimated to be in late April or early May, even if the tax reductions of the '90s are left in place. That's the symbolic day when we finish rendering unto Caesar and get to start keeping what we earn.
