Well, you know me. I'd seen a magazine review that only mentioned "official" use. So I sent the following reply:
Is it available to the civilian market?
And heard immediately back from them:
These are now commercially available, let me know if I can assist you with one!Well, yeah, with the paying part would be nice...
Some day. The last time Sweetie came home with a lottery ticket, I told her all she's gotta do is get six lousy numbers and she can't even do that right (Owww...). So I'm counting on this ticket I bought at the NRA Annual Meeting to show her how someone who really knows what he's doing gets things done:

I checked the prices, which of course means I can't afford one.

Gee. The U.S. distributor has a "lowest price" guarantee at $11,495 plus shipping. Gun Broker lists a sweet looking one with Dark Earth Cerakote finish at $12,500. The silencer goes for $2,250.
Santa Claus, I have been reallllly good....
David, you're doing it wrong. Email them back and tell them you need one XM408 with mounted optics to review + 100 rounds of ammo. Oh, and don't forget the suppressor.
That way, at least you get to shoot it. :-)
Maybe I can become a dealer. Think I could talk them out of a demo? You know, so I can sell them to the area PD's. Of course to properly demo them I'll need a good supply of ammo.
