SF Sheriff Mirkarimi caught in gun control net he helped cast

And while I don’t pretend to give a damn one way or another about what happens to this Mirkarimi character, who as far as I’m concerned is hoist on his own petard and not likely to have an epiphany on individual liberty even if he manages to beat the…uh…rap, his predicament points to a disconnect between crime and punishment driven more by the political correctness he and his kind have demanded, enabled and enforced, than by public safety. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes a rat caught in a trap of its own making.

Did he turn in his tire irons, nine irons, baseball bats, clothes lines, kitchen knives, claw hammers and pointy scissors too? It makes no sense to single out guns, except for some people's Marxist, disarm America, anti-gun rights agenda. We need to tell them what they can do with their agenda.

If Mirkarimi were convicted on the domestic violence charge, he would not be able to carry a gun as sheriff, - Which goes to show that for a SF Sheriff, a gun is (just) a Badge of Office...
This guy jerk has been a loud and blustery thug for a long, long time. His violent temper, loud outbursts, and thuggish and intimidating behavior are legendary among the SF City Council - so he should probably have been prohibited at the outset.
The fact that this is only now emerging is a sad reflection on the "political process" of musical-chairs in San Francisco.
But *somebody* BIG doesn’t like him, and set him up to torpedo him. All the damning evidence of his behavior just keeps coming forward because he’s spread a trail of slime wherever he’s gone and it's a long trail.
His wife is not a Naturalized citizen, she's a Venezuelan and probably intimidated by him while he offers her a safe-haven from Hugo Chavez-land. She is afraid to lose her station in SF Elite Society and will defend him despite his actions because she’s more afraid and doesn't want to go back to Venezuela. She keeps professing his innocence of the domestic battery charge - but that was just the trigger to unleash all the other evidence and discredit him and ruin his career.
